Didn't even know you had a log here.. nor that you got married with SportsGirl though I did know you were thinking of leaving for the US! Congrats to the both of you!
Darwin absolutely ROCKS.. been there once and loved it. Liked NZ too, but moreso the North than the South (that had everyone raving about it, coz' of the culture).
The only thing about Oz is that it is so far away from every other Western country outside NZ. Makes it interesting once again in other aspects.

Ya, it's been a few months and we didn't make a big deal about it (ie, we told only a handful of people that we talked to off-forums etc).
Thanks

It's smaller than any other "big" Aussie city, but I like that. I've been to all the big ones aside from Perth, and I just don't do the city-life thing. I love visiting, but city just isn't my thing.
Darwin's more like a few buildings in the middle of the outback. I have a badass gym, food, and plenty of bars within walking distance, and I'm cool with that.

Aaron's just gonna troll you more for this, hahahaha

Ya, it's far from everything, but I think that actually helps it in some respects.

I guess I live in one of Australia's "big" cities then. But it's nothing like the "BIG" cities around the world lol.
I live in the suburbs anyway, as most people do, and I'm barely ever in the city anyway. So not too bad, I don' feel like I live in a big city hah. I'd guess people who visit mainly stick to the city, and so would get that impression?
I haven't been to Darwin(I'll make it up there some day hah), but I guess with a population of 100,000 ish, it's more like a town Compared to the millions in Melbourne, things like traffic, and just having less people around must be different!
And nice pulls, what's your max at nowadays? Planning to go for any 1rm's anytime soon?

That was an error of course.. meant leaving for Oz. Was thinking of Sara who did the opposite (go & live w Lyle).
I've been to Oz for 3 months but didn't go further west than Katherine and got terribly bored w cycling half way from the S to Darwin and decided hitch-hiking was more fun. I will never ever forget the starry nights and actually the nights were lessb boring than the days because the sky over Oz is unforgettable. It took me nearly a year to get over it that everything is floodlit here. After Oz everyone who's even got an inkling of an appreciation for a star-filled sky, is going to feel spoilt rotten. I think you'd need to go the African deserts for something that's similar or perhaps somewhere on the ocean (Pacific, Atlantic).

When you consider that Oz only has seven cities that really show up on the map (eight if you want to count Alice Springs, I guess), yes, you certainly do. In a country that's got 90% of its 30 million people in those 7 cities and a lot of empty space, it counts.

Yes and no. Depends on where you are and what you get to see, I guess.

Ya, that's what I mean. Darwin is tiny. It spans a wide area if you count the suburbs, but I can walk across the CBD in less than 20 minutes. Compared to Melbourne, it is a town.
I like it that way honestly. It's warm here year round, everything's close, and there's a lot of drunken Aboriginals hanging out in the street playing music and yelling at people.

No idea. I'm actually pretty pissed off at the pulling recently, but I'm telling myself it's because the mid-shin rack pulls are at a weak angle. The deficit pulls feel a little stronger, so I could actually be right.
Assuming I'm in the ballpark, a 225-230 wouldn't be out of the question on a good day. Though considering that's a weight I've repped for sets of 5 in the past, I'm still a bit miffed about it. Oh well; that's the price you pay I guess.
Next 1RM attempt won't come for awhile. It tends to wipe me out and in the scheme of things isn't very productive, but I am trying to bring in more of a WSB type rotation of exercises, so that should help to narrow the numbers down soon.

You cycled through this crap? Good lord. I barely like having to walk a few blocks to the store in this heat, haha
Never been as far as Katherine. It looks close on the map but it's still a haul from here. Furthest I've been from Darwin on the ground is to the Litchfield park, which is about an hour away from here. Beautiful scenery out that way.

Yeah, even here in the city it's not built up enough to really blot out the sky, compare to a more developed region. We can get a good shot of the night sky. Of course, down by Katherine it's even more isolated so I could imagine you'd get some good views.
If memory serves me well, I made it to Uluru (Ayer's Rock) w/o hitc-hiking and the caved because it took such a long time, and I was bored silly by spending all that much time on the road, while I could be having a great time chatting to interesting people. I remember trying to read a journal while cycling. That year I got in 17 000 K (over 10 thousand mi).
Worst part: was a vegetarian at the time and barely ate more than 50gP/day.
Had a stomach bug since Tuesday, which pretty well had me laid up. Tried lifting earlier Tuesday but that just didn't work. Wasn't feeling better until later yesterday.
Was down to 91.5kg today, from 92.2 on Tuesday, which is probably all water and food in the gut. The bug cleaned me out pretty well from the look of it.
Considering that the shoulders are both wanting to act squirrely again, I'm going to be focusing more on the upper back/lats instead of working the bench so much.
Today:
BB Row, warmup/3x5, 90 (198)/3x5
DB Incline, warmup/2x8, 32.5 (71.5)/3x8
Pullups, 5x5
1A. DB Extensions, 17.5 (38.5)/2x8
1B. DB Curlz, 17.5 (38.5)/2x8
It's really just a deadlift with a somewhat rounded upper back, done standing on a platform. The legs are straighter than they should be, but not quite a true stiff-leg.
See Konstantinov:
Only I'm using about half the weight, haha
Works the hell out of the upper back and the hamstrings.
