Why?

Why don't you just stick with High bar ATG, or low bar PL? Atleast for periods of your training. Or else you won't be able to get used to one of the positions.

This is not a bad point.

YouTube - 315x1

This was HARD.

Tons of good paying jobs in Alberta. Housing is nuts though (parents recently sold a house bought for 190k in 1999 for about 650k in 08).

Way better economy then the US right now. Who knows what will happen in the future mind you.

I think you can do a fair bit more.

That little bounce you get at the top as you accelerate the bar makes me think you could do alot more.

You just need to accelerate the bar faster our of the hole to get past you sticking point faster, then the lockout will be easy.

I agree completely with you. Speed out of the hole is my biggest issue and what makes or breaks my squats.

Holy shit man housing down here is nuts too. Our house we bought in 96 is probably worth 1.2-1.5 million right now. Miami beach is just getting ridiculous--the smallest house in the mid-beach area is gonna go for a million. I used to think I would be moving back here one day, but it's starting to look like that'll never happen.

House prices in my area are fucking nuts too, an old piece of shit house across the road sold for 1.3 million. Another new house sold for something around 2 million. Any decent house(like mine) in my area would close to 2 million, maybe more! I think my parents bought our property(with a shit house there, knocked it down) for around 250k 10 years ago!!

Shit, I'm probably never moving back to my suburb!

The bar drifted forward a bit on that 315.
You look like you're falling forward, like your weight moves to the balls of your feet to keep you balanced.

Fix that.

275 looks good.

Your hands look like they're really close to you. If that's comfortable for you than it's fine, but I know that when I had a grip like that it really fucked with my elbows.
You might think about taking it out a bit.

This is really important: stop shuffling your feet after you step back. I do the same thing, and I'm trying to stop that now. Take one step back. Bring your other foot back. Squat. All that moving around that you're doing takes energy away from you and I think you lose some tension. By the time you start to drop, you've lowered your chances of actually making the rep.
Bring one foot back, plant it. Bring the other back, plant it. Squat.

That's some solid advice

Squat
1x10xbar
1x5x135
1x3x185
1x2x225
1x1x245
1x1x275
1x1x295
1x1x315-failed on rep 2
1x1x320
1x1x32510 lb PR
1x2x315-PR for a double

BB Bench Press
1x10xbar
1x5x135
1x1x155
1x1x185
1x1x205
1x1x230 5 5lb PR

Deadlift
1x5x135
1x3x225
1x1x275
1x1x315
1x1x335
1x1x38010 lb PR
1xFx385
1x5x315

Comments:
-good stuff. Up on everything.
-squats felt good. Low-bar. Form was much better than the 315 vid I posted. A bit faster out of the hole as well.
-I'm gonna do some cardio tomorrow and eat less. Part of the 5 day bulk/2 day cut cycle.

thanks.

Today's weird occurence:
I'm talking in the chatroom for cornell '12 students, when somebody remarks that their teacher "loves and favors Jewish people" and that they "read way too much about the HOlocaust(sic)"

I write, "I'm Jewish".

Awkward.

I was going to lift this afternoon, but my hammies are sore from friday. I may swing a nice, long walk to get some bloodflow going on.

I also took some progress pics and may post them later.

Congrats on the PRs, Josh. Hitting 10 lb PRs is tough. You're making really good progress.

Funny chatroom story. Awkward indeed.

Squeezed in a quick workout during my free period. Did power shrugs, scott presses, and some abs.

Almost no soreness from yesterday. I'm going to assume it was the massive PWO food intake.

thanks!

Light workout tomorrow.

Been eating aggresively the last 2 days, I want to really push the cals up these "bulk" days. It seemed to work last week.

In other news, I may be going to Israel again this summer, for FREE. Woohooo!

You sure that's you? That guy doesn't have a face.

Nice work. You've definitely put on quite a bit of muscle mass.

Yeah, looking pretty good, I actually think we must be pretty damn similar builds(now that I found out I'm actually like 180lbs) and I probably just have a bit less fat.

A squat, bench, AND deadlift PR all in one workout? Nice man! That must have been tough! It took me a whole week to do that!

Thanks! Goal is 200+ by end of school, and 225 by end of freshman year. This didn't exactly delight the parents.

You can also jump higher than me.
BTW, what's up with the 231 bench? You just had to beat me by 1 lb, didn't you? :P

Light Day

Squat
1x20x225+20 lbs from last time

Bench
1x5x155
1x5x165

Dip
3x5xBW+35+10

Chin-Up
2x5xBW+35
1x4xBW+35

Arms

Comments:
-I was going to squat 225 for 2 sets of 5, but I decided to man up. The 20 reps were tough, but not anywhere near max. I've got 240 in me.
-Everything else was good. Weights are way up on everything. Yay for bulking!

You're just lucky I missed the 242, I might not miss it this Friday

The fact that converting my numbers from kg's(105kg) to lbs(231), is giving wierd numbers, seems to be serving me well...

I think I remember you doing the same thing to me a little while back too though!

Just go in the gym and do them, man. It takes less than 5 minutes.

I meant to mention this before, but I saw two guys in the gym doing Smith Front Box Squats.

Legs are not sore at all today. Some quad tightness, but that is it. Loving the extra cals right now.

Tomorrow should be good, going for a 335-345 squat,a heavy military, and 385 on the dead.
