Yep guys, WOW is exactly right!

I first saw her in a thread here, a couple months ago, then I showed it to a friend yesterday, who knew who she was hahahhaa.

She was just some high school pole vaulter, someone noticed her and now shes all over the internet. Yes, there are many more pics of her around , shes 18-19 years old now I\'m guessing.

So, have you applied there yet? Thats a good enough reason for me!

Don't get me started on my military. 135x5 is about a month away.

We had football practice today for about 45 minutes. Sunday is the "playoffs". After playoffs, no league for a month.

Eating is going good. 3 days down.

today

BICEPS DAY
curlsxalot

20 min elliptical

No school/work, so I have extra time to exercise. I originally intended to hit triceps as well, but I decided not to as I'm doing heavy militaries tomorrow. Did some elliptical while I was there, while reading the new york times, which made it less mind-numbing.

Eating is solid. Got lunch with friends and managed to keep it clean. 5 days down, 14 more to go.

Militaries, sweet.... I love militaries... You\'re alternating militaries/bench, I just noticed that haha
Looks like a really good plan. What\'s your plan for the militaries tomorrow? 3rm? weight?

I\'m getting really sick of not lifting now, so I emailed a powerlifting club, maybe start doing some stuff with them.

Rippetoe says to go for a 1RM or 2RM each friday. I'm going to hit an easy double with 135 first, and depending on how that feels, get 140 or 145 for a single.

Good luck with the P-lifting club, I'd kill to have a training enviroment like that.

Absolutely no soreness from BICEPS DAY, wow.

Intensity Day

Squats

1x10xbar
1x3x135
1x3x185
1x1x225
1x1x245
1x2x275-30 lb double PR
1x1x275
1x1x295
1x1x300-15 lb PR

Military Press
1x7xbar
1x3x95
1x2x135-Double PR
1x1x145-10 lb PR

Deadlift
1x5x135
1x3x225
1x1x275
1x1x315
1x1x335
1x.9x375
1xFx375

Dips
1x12xBW
1x10xBW

some standing ab crunches.

Comments:
-GREAT workout. Didn't have that much energy/mental focus, but it turned out to be OK anyways.
-squats were solid. I used a low-bar setup today for the first time. Not very comfortable, but it helped me get more forward lean, which in turn allowed my glutes/hammies to contribute more. Form is still far from perfect. I descend way too slowly, still.
-I MAY go for 315 next week. MAYBE.
-Militaries were strong, too. 145 was a grinder, but I could've done more.
-Deads, not so strong. I couldn't lock out 375, and all the warmup sets felt "off".
-Did some standing ab crunches at the cable machine. I read somewhere that they help the squat, so I tried them out. Felt OK.

Thanks!

-----------
I found this thread I had posted a year ago, where I analyzed my gains in my first 6 months of training. Here's the improvements from them till now--one year.

Weight:170-197-ish
Deadlift:285-370
Bench Press:170-220
Squat:210-300
--

Looking to be an OK weekend. Parents are out of town, but I'm not going to do anything stupid--at least at home I'm not. I'm also planning on reading the plays Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead and Waiting for Godot. Not because I want to. Because I have to for school.

Also looking forward to getting a solid 12 hours of sleep tonight.

Nice Squats! GO FOR 315!

Do you think your deadlift is being affected by fatigue from the squats? I thought it would have some effect, but not sure if it would really be much. I might just copy your program now haha.

I'm sure it was a factor, but not too much. Last week, for example, I hit 365x2 after heavy squatting.

Thanks! It'll come soon. 3 weeks ago my max was 265. It's all about getting in reps with a heavy bar on your back.

---------------
1 week of good eating down, granted I don't mess up tonight. It's been really easy. Just focusing on eating WAY more veggies/fruits, and cutting out crap, such as 3 bowls of cereal in the morning.

wow. Interesting night.

Went to the beach with about 4 friends to BBQ. We get there and grill, I keep eat clean by eating 2 turkey dogs plus a fresca.

One of my other friends calls me; he's also at the beach. I walk about .5 mile to go hang with him. I get there, a bunch of kids. Some I knew, some I didn't know. Most of them were drinking.

I chill for a bit, when I notice that one of my friends is getting really drunk. I ask around, and apparently he had about 10 shots, 20 minutes before I came. Keep in mind this guy weighs about 120. So, I keep a closer eye on him--make sure he doesn't drink anymore, ect.

A little while later, I'm hitting it off with some girl when I see my friend collapse. I decide that I'm not gonna leave him here on the boardwalk with all these idiots. So, I have to take him away from everybody and take care of him.

After watching him throw up multiple times and convincing a police officer to leave us alone, I finally get us a ride. We take him to my house, where he vomits and then passes out. I take his cellphone, and call his dad to pick him up. I'm sure he's gonna be pissed at me, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

This is a kid who regularly gets like this most weekends. I'm not as mad at him as I am at his friends. His friends drink just as much, and egg him on.

Not nice.

I\'ve only seen a friend get that drunk once, last week haha. I don\'t think it matters if the whole world is egging you on, you are still responsible for your own actions.

Maybe he should do what I do - just don\'t get drunk!

I don\'t think he should get pissed at you though, you did the right thing by calling his dad.

Thanks, guys.

Trust me, I'm BIG on "personal responsibility". But, still, there will always be kids who have weaker personalities and are easy to influence. This is this kid right here--he just does what his buddies do.

We actually WON in football today--AND THIS was the playoffs!!!!

We played this team for the third time. GREAT execution today by everyone--our QB played well, and had a 60 yd run for a TD, along with 2 great TD passes. Our WR's made some nice catches and didn't drop any balls. Our defense performed, getting 2 picks. I had some solid blocking this game--no sacks, and neutralized their rusher, who is very good.

We were also helped by my friend's older brother, who played for us today. He played in the Yeshiva flag football league when he was in israel for a year--a league comprised of all the yeshivas which is ridiculously competitive.

I want to lift today, but I think it'd be smarter to wait till tomorrow.

You did the right thing, sadly it sounds as though he will go right back and do it all over again, he may not be as lucky next time.

I spoke to him today and he said was never going to drink again. I doubt that, but maybe this'll teach him the very important lesson of everything in moderation.

Looking forward to tomorrow's workout. Going for 5x5 with 245.

Volume Day

Squat
5x5x245+10

Bench Press
5x5x185-was able to complete all sets with 185. Last time, I only got 3

Deadlift

1x3x340+5 lbs, -2 reps

Chins

1x10xBW
1x5xBW

Comments:
-I thought this was going to be a shit workout. Driving into the gym, I felt tired, cold, and just out of it.
-the first set of squats sucked. Slow. I thought for sure I was gonna have to drop to 240.
-But, every set kept getting stronger and stronger. Maybe 1 "hard" rep, which was the last rep of the last set.
-technique is improcing also. I'm getting better at "spreading the floor", and using my ass. Next week will be 250 or 255, not sure yet.
-Bench was tough, especially since I lacked a spotter/liftoff. Every set felt like a grinder. But, whatever, I'll gladly take the improvements.
-Deads were weak. By the time it comes to pull, I'm already exhausted. Couldn't even break the bar off the floor when I failed.
-I may do some cardio tomorrow, or go to the other gym with my friend for BICEPS DAY.

you're doing the bill starr/ripp kinda lifting right?

you might want to consider pulling either every other week, or not pulling every every week. Just a suggestion.

Yep, I'm doing Rip's "Texas Method".

I can see the logic behind less frequent pulling--pulling can beat you up and is hard to recover from.

But, I don't think I'm ready to cut down that much. I'm not advanced enough to do that; I can't even pull 400 yet.

I don't think it's a "deadlifts are fatiguing me" thing. Rather, it's a "progress is gonna slow down as I get faster" type thing.

Huh? What?

My suggestion? Every third week, just do your warm up on the deadlifts.
At least that's what I'd do. Well, ok, I probably wouldn't be able to keep myself from trying a single even when I'm not feeling it. But I'd want to hold back. Recovery is a good thing.
