I'm doing them to help my squat. I squat with my feet outside shoulder width. Also I figured I've always done goodmornings with a close stance, so why not switch it up a bit? I wouldn't say they're really wide, I just used my squat stance, which is wider than my normal goodmorning stance.

The extensions were just to get some blood to the area. My elbows felt great after, and my arms were huge! haha. 50 reps for the win!

So here's the skinny on the shirt.
They (Trevor, Brent and another guy in the club) liked the design that I posted here, but they all think the guy in the design is too big (too built. as if such a thing exists). So they want a smaller guy.

Trevor's brother in law is a graphic artist, so Trevor and him are going to take that design and another one me and Brent did today (which I won't post, because it's actually REALLY good, and I'm wondering if we should get a copyright) and they're going to work their magic on it.

There's a contest going on at school, I forget if I mentioned it here or not. Basically, you make a t-shirt design that shows the school's subculture. We are going to enter the design we made today because it incorporates other sports as well as weightlifting (athletic subculture??). The winner gets $300 and 500 t-shirts printed with their design.
!!!!!!!!!!

The deadline is November 28, and the winner is announced on Dec 1. Wish us luck!

If you want to pay a few bucks for it, sure.
The shirts are meant to be a way of raising funds for the club.

bench RE - November 14

neutral grip db bench
85x7,6,6

3-board
100kgx3,3,5

db overhead half press
45x12x3

tate press
forget

bb curls
45kgx8,6,6

Not sure why I did half presses to put more focus on the shoulders, just to do extensions right after. Meh. This is my way.

On the board press -> I struggled badly with the third rep on the first two sets, then I'm up for the third set and nail five reps without a problem, probably could have grinded through a sixth. Not really sure what was up there.

I haven't had any elbow pain for a little while. Still some pain down my forearm during certain lifts, but nothing so bad that it's holding me back. I wonder if all the curls I'm doing is actually helping.

squat RE - November 16

pulldown abs
100x10

box squat
330x2x6

front squat
225x2x2
235x1x3

close grip bentover row
205x6x2
220x3x3

chin up
bwx10

Not sure if I'm doing the pulldown abs right. I don't really feel them anywhere.
Box squats weren't very hard but still didn't feel right. Still kept good form I think. I might try and get a video of them next weekend.

So we got the logo done, or at least one design.

We took these figures, which we did ourselves (we took them from real pictures anyway. You may recognize the guy on the right as Michael Jordan)

And added it to the logo I posted a while ago
Made a few adjustments to the text, and
voila

I don't get how some guys say they're really good. I've done them standing, done them kneeling. Neither are really very taxing, or make me feel like I'm actually using my abdominals.

use more weight, most machines dont go heavy enough, also dont lock out each rep at the top.

I was using 100!
Alright. I'll use more and see what happens.

NW, we might not use that design after all. Some of the other guys want the text on the front, and the line up of figures (the top picture) on the back.
I'll post the final design here when we decide on one.

Bench ME - November 17

decline sit up
+25x12,10,8
hip raises
bwx10

paused bench
100kgx1
102kgxFx2

2-board
90kgx3
100kgx3
102kgx2x2

lockouts
up to 150kgx3

db curls
55x4x4

I had a bad session today, that's what I get for sleeping only three hours after training yesterday. Matched my bench from the contest two months ago (tried for a double but failed the second rep). That sucks. I'm hoping it goes up fast though. With the work I'm doing I don't see why it wouldn't. Hoping for 240 paused in January.
I think on a good day I would have been good for a 100kg double for sure.

i thought the design was cool.

if you use that w/ the figures, and they want to put it on the back, think about getting the figures across the upper back area.

except, where's baseball?

The one snatch is a deadlift to the untrained eye

The light blue is a school colour, that's why we chose that.
Also, the majority of the athletes we'll be getting will most likely be volleyball or basketball players.

I'm working on a design of the text with a guy squatting in the middle. I'll post it when it's done. Will do another with a real deadlift afterwards.

ps. I'm expecting my suit to come any day now. Ordered it 11 days ago.

my school got a strength an conditioning club recently i just found out. they stole one of the gyms oly platforms, and one of the squat racks. the university gym really sucks now.. good thing i dont train there.

be carefuly if you are actually training with hockey/football/sports players. usually their passion is playing sports and lifting is an afterthought. horrible enviroment for powerlifting. I tried it a while back, and i simply was not pushing myself hard enough with those guys. When you bench your max single and a group of guys go "wow, ive never seen anyone move that much weight" its time to find a new training group.

who cares if they're people who play sports?

they should be training a little differently than matthew, but it's better than the environment he had previously... NO ONE.
