Enter the comp. Every lifter I knows training improved after their first comp. You will never think you are good enough / strong enough when you enter your first contest, just do it.

I probably will.
I just need to order a singlet.

The good weightroom closed though, until September 2. The competition is the 13.
The other room at school just got a platform, which is good. But the wood must have been waxed or something, which is bad, because my feet slide across it pretty easily. It's going to be terrible for squatting on. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

I might go to the Premier Fitness I used to go to and see if I can get some special deal for two or three weeks. They don't even do month memberships I don't think, but I'll see what I can do.

I'm looking at singlets

Someone do me a favour, go here
Matman Wrestling: Quality Wrestling Equipment since 1969

click on "Products", next to Uniform/Singlets click on "Stock"
inside the white box, it's the fourth one on the top.

That looks ok, right?
I've never had to wear a singlet before, I don't want to spend $50 getting it here just to find it sucks.
It's made of nylon, if that matters.

Also.. what do you wear underneath? I was planning to wear compression shorts like I wear in training, but the rulebook says I can't.

Quote:
Briefs

A standard commercial “athletic supporter” or standard commercial briefs (not boxer shorts) of any mixture of cotton, nylon or polyester shall be worn under the lifting suit.
Women may also wear a commercial or sports bra.
Swimming trunks or any garment consisting of rubberized or similar stretch material except in the waistband, shall not be worn under the lifting costume.
Any supportive undergarment is not legal for use in IPF competition.
Just regular briefs? I don't even own a pair..
I don't understand why you can wear a squat suit or squat briefs, but not compression shorts underneath.

I've ordered an INZER lifting singlet from irongladiators.com which should arrive soon. It's a bit cheaper.

Ok you can't wear squat briefs, but you can wear a squat suit.
So why not something that gives next to no assistance?

It doesn't really matter, my curiosity just gets the better of me sometimes.

When I said it's costing close to $50, I was including shipping. Frank, the suit you mentioned is $40 + $25 shipping.
Simon, yours will end up being close to the same price as the one I posted. I'll look at them both again and order tomorrow.

Thanks guys.

I meant why no compression shorts. Because they give next to zero support.

I guess I need to get better at wording things.

I got what you meant. I guess it's just because you could have a chance theoretically of getting some support out of really tight compression shorts/boxers and the like, whereas no matter how tight your undies are, you're not going to do anything except hurt your nads!
