squat/deadlift - March 22

oly squat
265x5,4,4 +6 reps total

goodmorning
195x8,6,8 +20lbs

rack pull - knee height
425x3,3,4 +20 lbs

hip raise
40x15

I like the thing a few of you guys have going on with the bold lettering to signify PRs. I'm stealing it.

Really good workout today. I really focused on keeping a good arch, and I think I did that really well. Still getting used to the oly squats. Next week should be 275x5, then 285x5 the week after.

A friend today told me she just noticed my bicep is as big as her head. See Simon? Jacked.

Either she has a really small head, or you are jacked, or the third option: she wants you.

The second two sound about right.

I'm definitely trying to date this girl, so the third option wouldn't be bad at all.

I'm going for a 180x2 push press tomorrow. If I throw in some extra warm up sets for practice I should be able to make the 180 without failing a bunch of times first. I'm excited, it should be a good workout tomorrow.

I'm also going to sign up for an assessment (ten dollars) and a few pt sessions (free) at the school. Forced mobility/rehab work, plus possibly some massage therapy, and a chance to advance the education of the athletic therapy students. Can't go wrong.
Plus it gives me a reason to talk to the cute girl that works the counter on Mondays.

I do for AAAs, which my mp3 player takes.
Not for AAs, which my camera takes.

OH - March 24
push press
82kg (180lbs) x F,F,2,F +4lbs
-that's right. I failed twice, got a double, then failed a fourth attempt. I suck.
80kg x1
-that's right. I only got one. I suck.

A1 pull up
bwx5
+15x5,4,4,4,4 +reps

A2 tate press
50x8,7,8

B1 one arm row
120x6x4
-the 100s were on the other side of the dumbbell rack (both sides hold dumbbells) and I didn't feel like walking around the rack with a 100lb dumbbell in my hand. the 120s were on my side, so I used those.

B2 push jerks from behind head
this is what Trevor had me doing last week as well
worked up to 70kgx3 x a few sets, can't remember if it was 2 or 3

barbell curl
50kgx4
-that's right. Not only did I curl in the squat rack, I used bumper plates.
-these were cheat curls, my arms were fried by the time I got around to these

No video, sorry. Next time.

Once I get comfortable with the push jerks (2-3 weeks) I'll take the weight down and work back up doing push presses from behind the head (major difference is toes don't leave the ground and obviously I press the weight out at the top). It's a lot more comfortable pressing from the back, but there are times I drop the weight in the wrong spot and feel it in my spine. I want to wait until I stop doing that before I go ahead and load up >180 lbs.

I might do something else instead of push presses next week, maybe seated bb press, maybe a db press.
Or I might get pissed off at all these fails and try for a few good sets at 180. Who knows.

My entire back is really sore.

Today I'm supposed to pull from the floor, box squat, front squat.
I might do it tomorrow instead. That gives me three full days recovery after my back intense session, and two full days after the less back intense session.

I don't know if it's just doms or not, but it's way worse than anything I've had before.

If it was my legs that were sore, I'd train through it. Or if it was an upper body session I had scheduled for today. But deadlifts and high bar squats can be disaster if my back isn't up for it. I'd rather take the extra day and do things right tomorrow.

Tomorrow:
365 pull for reps, low hip set up
265x3 box squat (+20lbs)
198x5 front squat if I can manage. The biggest problem with these is keeping the bar from sliding down my arm, if I can do that I can get 5 reps no problem.

I have been the last couple times I front squatted. It does help.

I find the best thing to do is just to wear a thin shirt. The bar fits much better in the groove of my shoulder with a thin shirt than with a thicker shirt. A thinner shirt gets damp faster, but with chalk that isn't a problem anymore.

You gave me an idea with the 2 board press. You're right that a 2board is pretty much right where my sticking point is, or was last time I benched (it might change after all this overhead work, might not). Once I start benching with a bar again, I should try some 2boards out.

if you have delts, which
