It might not even be a regular 20kg bar!

You're a 30lb bar.

Ha!

Maybe it's 40lbs. Maybe it's 42. Some companies don't really care about stuff like that.
Ten bucks says one of the 45s you've used only weighed 43 pounds.
And another weighed 47.

The bars I use are awesome bars(club bought them), they weigh 20kg(44lbs), I think the collars would add a pound yeah, but we don't use them all the time.

I'm going to ignore that.

Trevor emailed me and told me he got a 400lb tire for flipping in the spring. Sweet.

400 is pretty easy to flip but good for conditioning. You need to get heavier ones as well!

how did your meeting go?

Well I only pull 405x2. The beginning of a tire flip is similar to a deadlift, isn't it?

Meeting.. went.
Only three people showed up. All three were people that I talked to personally about joining. So the flyers were a waste. The good news is that these three guys are all serious/semi serious lifters, so no lazy/unwilling people.

We planned friday to be our group training day, because we can all get together that day. Friday is my strict OH press day. It all works out.

10x3 box squats tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it.

Yeah, but most of the weight of the tire is still resting on the ground, you're only flipping it, not lifting it, so you're lifting much less weight.

What is the world coming to?

actually, flipping a tire has a lot of similarities to a clean, and barely any to a deadlift

For example, like 4 months ago or so, i flipped the 400 or so tire at chads for the first time. My clean was low at this time, considering i've never cleaned before, and was still able to flip it for a few reps.

You need to film your form doing this, and post it.

You should be able to flip the tire w/o using your arms. DON'T lift the tire with your biceps like you're deadlifting. This is how people get torn biceps all the time flipping tires. You should get down, and drive your chest into the tire, and push forward. This explosiveness should raise the tire, then it's a matter of doing it all in one motion, or kicking your leg under it.

Check out kevin nee flipping this tire, and how he doesn't lift the tire, he drives into it:

Sweet. Thanks man.

ETA: the matrix has been on tv a lot recently. It's a good movie. I enjoy it.

squat - March 5

box squat
110kg (242lbs) x3x10

RDL
143kg (314.6lbs) x6,6,4

decline sit ups
bwx12
+25x8

hanging leg raise
12x2

What is it about kg's that makes everything seem so f*cking heavy.
Squats felt really good. These racks are facing a mirror so for the first time I can see myself squat. My entire face as well as my neck turns a darker red with each rep, and veins pop out of my neck. I thought it was pretty awesome.
I'm going to bring a towel or an old bed sheet, and hang it over the mirror. I don't like watching myself lift. I was already given the ok to do that.

RDLs felt heavy, surprisingly, considering I was moving 335x4 or something around there. Never did them after ten sets of heavy squats though.
My elbow was starting to hurt during the squats, so I decided to replace good mornings with RDL and get the bar off my back. Elbow feels great now, so I think it was a good decision.

I'm going to pick up a nylon belt as soon as I get a chance. It's supposed to be bad weather here over the weekend, so I'll probably end up getting it next week, or next weekend. I want a belt.

Feel good about today.
