Dang that sucks about the missed lifts, I've yet to miss a deadlift, but that may soon change!

I can get this position fine for cleans and push presses, but are you supposed to rest the bar on your front delts for strict pressing? That seems fucking retarded to me, I feel I need to get my arms underneath to drive under the bar, so I pretty much hold it with my arms and rest it on the chest.

No, we don't rest the bar on our front delts if we're strict pressing. We were talking about push pressing.
During a strict press, just hold the bar above your chest like you said.

squat - February 20

squat
315x1x3

box squat - had to pile plates for this one. ended up around mid shin height. pretty low
225x3x4

RDL
315x6,4
225x6x2

I had wanted 315x2, and I know I would have gotten it but for some reason it just didn't feel right. I had to rack it after the first rep each time.
Box squats felt good. Going to keep those.
Not going to RDL for a while - my hamstrings are hating it. I'll do goodmornings instead, and hope that those are ok.

Looks good to me.

What's with the squat emphasis, and all this "not pulling heavy"?

I'm focusing on my squat.
Also, I'm pulling a heavy double on saturdays.

Trevor is my new best friend. This is the email I got this afternoon:

Quote:
I am the program coordinator of athletic therapy, and exercise science
and health promotion. I saw your strength club posting on the board in
our new facility lobby. As a former powerlifter, Olympic lifter and
strongman I am interested in developing a strength club at Sheridan
using our new strength and conditioning facility as a home base.

We are planning on opening our gym the last seven weeks of the semester
for general use (fees will apply) so maybe we could give your group a
test run in the facility to see if it meets your needs. Let me know if
you would like to meet to discuss the options.

Trevor
HA!
Fucking sweet.

Thanks dudes.

I'm pretty psyched about it. Ya, the guy probably knows a lot (he's a phd) and we can learn a lot from him blah blah blah

but GOOD EQUIPMENT! WOOOOOO!

I don't know man, I hope so.

If not it should only be a few dollars out of our own pockets, no big deal. If we go through with the in-school comp we can raise money and put it towards our fees for next year, which would be good.

I'll wait until I speak with Trevor before I make any assumptions. Who knows what kind of deals we may be able to work out.

I want to go all out with this. Get speakers to come in (most likely just professors from local schools, or motivational speakers from around) and talk with the club/anyone else that wants to hear from them. Maybe some current/former powerlifters to come talk with us, or even to train with us for a day.
That probably won't be until next year, but damn, that would be cool to do.

The only thing is that the gym will be open for general admission. Meaning, we won't have the room to ourselves like I had wanted. Cross your fingers that the fees are enough to keep the 'other' students away and in the free weight room.

Ok, so I think on Monday I'm going to be lifting with guy in the new weightroom, and discussing the club.

Sweet.
