glad you're on the road to recovery, bud, after battling the pain.
Hope the PT is productive. I had my last PT 6-7 years ago and wish I had followed up better.

Thanks. I'm going to try and be good about it. This will end up costing me months of missing heavy training before it's all said and through, so I better be good about it.

I wasn't good about mine, but it did me several dates (with a PT where I went). So not a total waste ...

Well, that probably won't happen with me. He's not a baseball fan. And, I'm married.
But hell, face it. You could go anywhere and get dates.

I assumed. Judging by the looks of the PT majors that work for me, she was probably hot too.

not too much today because I have physical therapy soon, and my 2 year old little boy was crying in the playroom when I left him, so I took him to the gym to shoot hoops to make up for it.
alco - good tip on the neutral grip, they feel better on the forearm. Curls hurt though, and I may have to ditch them.
I ain't never gonna get no big gunz iffin I can't do curls dammit. Maybe it'll get better soon.

standing calf raises yesterday put doms in my calves, which is rare. also sore from PT, but in a good way. Just went in today because I was taking my boy to swim lessons and there anyway.

dumbell incline bench 2 x 8 x 70s
skullcrushers 2 x 8 x 80
abz
mckenzie
seated calf raises
Goin' back tonight to get the Mrs. doing some upper body pushing, so I'll probably do some light stuff then, too.
I started pretty low on bench b/c of the herniation and time off, but I like how what I'm doing is going so far. I'd like to keep upping reps until 3 x 8, then upping pounds and starting back at 3 x 5, and see how far I can get with that.

10-17
Bench 2 x 7 x 215, 1 x 6 x 215
incline dumbell 2 x 5 x 80s
seated overhead dumbell press 3 x 6 x 60s
lateral dumbell raises 3 x 6 x 20s
cable tricep pushdowns 15 x 120, 2 x 10 x 140
abs (a lot)
mckenzie
standing calf raises
I like this heavy (for me) dumell work on the incline, but it's a bitch getting them in position. I feel like I could move up on this, and maybe do some good numbers if I did them first, but shit is it hard getting them in position.
Standing calf raises in Smith machine is way better than the seated ones.
At least another week before my last PT visit, when he may clear me for heavier lower body stuff, but I doubt it unless my right quad gets a lot better by then.

Had the Mrs. do some front squats with a 25 pound bar - 4 x 10, but her quad actually cramped on the last one, so I cut out half the stuff I was going to do with her and had her do 4 x 6 x 45 on SLDLs. She had pilates yesterday and it may be too much for legs the day after that. We'll try again next Saturday and if we have the same issue I'll switch her Tuesday and Saturday workout.
I just did some abs and some light single leg stuff for my messed up leg. We walked on the treadmill at the end and I almost fell in front of 30 or 40 people.

The wife's legs were really sore from Saturday, so I'll try again this Saturday and hope for a little more expected response.
Today we did upper body push- she-
bench - 4 x 12 x 45, then 1 x 6 x 55
incline dumbell press - 3 x 10 x 15s
seated overhead dumbell press - 3 x 10 x 10s
skullcrushers - 3 x 8 x 20 (still pretty hard for her, but she can handle it)
me-
bench
2 x 8 x 135, then 3 x 5 x 225
incline dumbell press 3 x 6 x 70s
seated overhead dumbell 3 x 10 x 50s
skullcrushers 3 x 8 x 80
abs
I just realized that I must have missed a back workout Sunday or Monday. I don't even know right now, being off a 'powerlifting' schedule sucks big time. Saw my MRI with a doctor for the first time today and he says I've got lots of disc degeneration, but that's actually typical with someone as old as me that trys to lift heavy stuff. He was negative about me getting back into heavy weights right now and in general fairly negative about the future too, but he also admitted that he was being cautious and still thinks there's a good chance for a full recovery.
In the meantime I'll keep doing PT stuff and lifting upperbody and try to eat a lot so I can try and have something good happen while I wa | |
