stand ups

805lbs x 20seconds? easy

conventional deads

squats felt pretty good. the 755lbs was a good squat, no depth issue. probally had a couple more lbs in me. with knee wraps + contest nerves etc i think i am in the ballpark 800, the straps on my suit where quite loose i cant control the suit without them.

bw: 224lbs after breakfast. !

rest day today. feel pretty good actually.

back to regular lifting tomorrow.

im dropping the speed deads, my deadlift speed is no longer a problem. 575 was not hard until the last inch, just need to work on lockout and positioning so i can smash 650.

Im changing me DE day up some to reflect weaknesses better.

Just going to do 2 things:

- ultra wide stance box squats.
I usually do these with a fairly close stance because i use a low box. im going to really wide out my stance and get more hips involved. Weight will be down i imagine.

-reverse band deads
going to use a wendler-ish 5/3/1 progression on them. my deadlift lockout SUCKS, no doubt i need a hell of a lot more upperback work (rows, facepulls, shrugs etc). But also my positioning sucks for the lockout as my shoulders are infront of the bar. If I can fix this which i think these will do then ill be hopefully good for a 650 pull in october.

Not to bad, i was a hockey goalie for years and still have decent flexibility.

But i do usually squat narrower then alot of powerlifters because i can use more low-back hah.

squats where good, blue bands have quite a bit of tension i found. these really hit the hips hard.

*Warning*- will be talking about male anatomy.


Long story short - the other day I found a pretty good sized lump on my left testicle. The area has kind of been bothering me the last couple of weeks, primarily i felt some dull pain in my hamstring/glue tie in (still, have NO clue if this is related).

I rush to the doctor to get the thing looked at, he says its probably nothing but since im in the age range bracket for TC i should get it looked at further.

They get me an appointment with the radiologist.. 2 months from now! this seems like a really long time to me.

From everything ive been told and read- there is about a 95% chance its nothing to be concerned about. I'm going to try going through a few different routes to get another appointment at hopefully an earlier date.

Jesus. Hopefully you'll hear everything is o.k. I have a friend that had an abnormality on a colonoscopy and they have him waiting for another couple of months before they check again, so maybe a delay is not unheard of.

Although, a second opinion sounds like a good idea.

funny story from last meet:

18-19 year old kid is doing what i imagine is his first meet. starts the squats with an opener of around 400lbs. he does this huge pre-lift dance type thing, is yelling at the weights and making it a big show.

he takes it out of the monolift and squats it about 2-3 inches high, but it didn't matter, he didn't wait for the 'squat' command so even if he hit depth it would have not counted.

next lift, about 500lbs is on the bar. same big scene before the lift. he takes it out- waits for the command this time and just gets stapled by the weight, i thought 400 was to heavy for him..500lbs wasn't even close.

its pretty obvious hes going to bomb out at this point. He tries the 500lbs again, same big scene before the lift- same outcome - stapled.

so he bombed out.. but he re-enters the meet in the push/pull division.

first bench - still does this funny pre-lift pump up thing.. 275lbs, misses the lift, i think his butt came off the bench.

here is where it gets funny - he borrows his friends bench shirt which is way to big for him and calls for about 315. This time, a little less pre-lift nonsense. Of course, he doesnt get the lift, fails it at lockout.

then- he tried the 315 again, raw and gets stapled with it. By this point the kid if very quiet and humble to say the least! haha.

I whitnessed a double bomb out.

luckily he entered again in the deadlift only (this meet must have cost him $200 LOL) and got his opening lift (barely). so he went 1/9 on the day.

Hmmmmm. Yeah, earlier = better. I'll keep my fingers crossed, Frank. You're right, the odds are by FAR in your favor on this one! Any pain with lifting with this lump? Is it actually PART of the testicle or outside of it?
