*SMOKED. 1-2 inches low, came up as fast as any speed squat. Left some in the tank today. All prs.. never done these before. now... give me a monlift so i dont have to walk them out/close stance the reps.. (plus, i still have a fair amount of gear to add! ). Bands where no helping out all that much, quite happy with everything today.

If you can wait an undetermined amount of time I can sell you a bench shirt.

With a cakewalk semester schedule like that, you should be able to get some more paid work on the side to cover the rent, right?
Yes, but i think ive got a new place lined up that is nicer and cheaper. I just hate moving

bench feels like its moving in the right direction. with the 2 board, i dont think the bands are helping very much (because they help 0 and the top, and with comp grip + good set-up the ROM is not big).
You've really been on a roll with the smart-assedness lately eh?
Everything ok Roland? Anything you need to talk about?

Frankie, I've tried but I just can't understand how you're benching ~300 and still using 35s for extensions.
Are you sure it wasn't really an 8, but part of it got worn off?
Which reminds me. I was late for an appointment today and when I got there the woman told me she called but couldn't get me. They dialed ***-3613, my number is ***-8618. She tried telling me I gave her the wrong number. Funny thing is, they wrote the number down when I said it aloud.
When I told her that she just stared at me, and didn't say anything. So I repeated it, and still she didn't say anything. The awkwardness was only broken by me being told by someone else to go wait in the other room.
I never did find out what that was all about.

A strict laying on my back extension is pretty hard with light weights i find. But the goal of the extensions and stuff isn't so much strength as it is growth, seems to be working too.
And actually, all the dbs at the gym are misslabed. i have no idea how much they actually weight.. the weight on them equals the number printed on the side, that doesn't include the handle which has got to be a few lbs i figure.
people are pretty stupid in general ive found. seems you have had the same experience.
ive been doing almost all CG bench work lately (past ~3 months?) because i feel my triceps are weak in comparison to my chest/delts.
With the close grip presses ive had one hell of a time:
-keeping my shoulder blades togethor throughout the lift
-keeping my arch throughout the lift
-keeping my ass on the bench
i widened out my grip about 5 inches on each hand today, all the above problems, more or less gone. with the wider grip my shoulders fell right into place, ass didn't move, and i could easily keep my arch.
Do you have any mobility issues with your scapulae?

my elbows just cant take low bar squatting all that well, and at probally around 550lbs of tension at the top of the speed lifts, i dont want to high bar them.
I don't know what to tell you man. You're just weird I guess
I probably understand the elbow issue best of anyone else here. Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn't hold a straight bar in the low bar position at all outside of competitions. Cambered bar I think you said doesn't give you any issues, I think buffalo bars wouldn't either (see if you can get your gym to buy one). Safety squat bars. There are so many options that won't hurt your elbows that I honestly don't think you need to low bar squat with a straight bar. But what do I know, I only squat 315
Remember, there are lifters that get by without back squatting at all. You can definitely get by.
Why don't you want to high bar with 550?

because having anything over about 300lbs on your back in a high bar position sucks, bad. I find it very hard to stay tight with a high bar position and its much much harder to sit back into the squat. i end up falling forward and GM'ing out of the hole.
Got to practice my lifts like at a meet.
Yeah i wish i had access to more bars, but thats not an option. Doesn't matter much, i am about 7 weeks out right now and id use a straight bar for almost anything anyway.
You have money, buy a bar and donate it to the gym. Or ask some of the members for a small donation each and put it towards a new bar that will stay at the gym. I'm sure you could find 15 people to donate 20 bucks each for a $300 bar.
Frank, you can't use the same form with high bar as you can with low bar so don't try. Learn the best form for a high bar squat if you're using a high bar position.
Sounds like you found yourself a fresh new weakness to kick the shit out of. I've been meaning to tell you I think oly-ish squats (a little wider stance though) would be really good for you after the meet.
Also, I've held 440 high bar without a problem. Sure it made me bleed a little, but you should be used to bleeding from squats.
