the bands are pretty close to deloaded at the top. They are helping a little, but not much. The reason the weight is so high is because its a 3 board in a shirt and i have my shirt uber jacked lol.

Also because you're a damn beast.
Nice lift. Now get it without the bands.
And careful of those triple sixes.

actually, ill probably add more bands and get into the 800lbs range LOL
trying something very different for my bench in prep for this contest. BIG iron gym style benching, they hold a ton of bench records so ill give their methods a shot. So far so good.

Ill make a run at 805 with reverse blues + greens in a few weeks.
The system sounds ridiculous but makes sense. There is no exact protocol with the big iron style benching i am doing. Just use alot of reverse band tensions (They use blacks + blues at ties. 800lbs benchers are working up to 1100+lbs bar weight).
I really think my lockout power is going to skyrocket through this style of benching. They dont always recommend this style of benching for a full meet lifter - but fuck it. lol. I have the recovery ability to handle it.
my shoulder felt about 80% today. Its hurts if I move it around fast, and at the bottom of a bench. took some painkilers before training because I was looking forward to benching.. not something I recomend but this contest is getting close and i want to be ready. Seems alright still, stiff and swolen now though, and making lots of popping noises when I move it. The pain is pretty minor overall, so i don't think its anything serious.
also - last Saturday i blew out both of my eyes bench presses (just blood vessels). This is what it looks like (not me):
Its that bad in my right eye, but my left eye is only 1/2 as bad. Im told I look like the devil. Interesting because I have to give a big public speech on thursday haha.

week goals
-705lbs for 2-3 reps on rack pulls pin #3 (best is 705 x 1 on pin #4.. #3 is lower..)
-take 501lbs to a 1 board, goto 551 on a 2 board.
-squat I will go by feel. But I am thinking right around 800 if things feel good.
weights are getting heavier now, im feeling very driven lately. BW is right around 240lbs which is where i want it.
ive also decided that im going to try get my bench group to train on tuesdays instead of thursdays. I dont mind having only 1 day off between bench sessions, but some of the others are having some issues.

Ive noticed ive had a little better results going into the gym with a goal unstead of "work up to 1-3rm..". Like yesterday, I usually would have stopped at 666 x 2, but i had my mind set on 700, so i went for it.
squats
band: regular blue
gear: singleply briefs (very minimal support)

Rack pulls (pin #3, well below knee)

Tire Flips

d1 Back extensions

d2 shrugs

notes
- while setting up the monolift (the one i use is a cable system, rather then a new hydrolic one) the crank slipped out of my hand and the whole thing collapsed on itself, the barbell went flying and hit a huge bottle of ammonia off its stand and it broke open, and chalk was everywhere. it was a mess and pissed me off.
- 300kg x 2 was heavy.
-The tire flips are fun, i have no clue how heavy the tire is, but it takes some effort. I'm in a little better shape then i expected.
-This workout started out shitty, but turned out to be a real ball buster, I need to get back to training like this, at the end of the session I was beat to shit, the intensity that me and my new training parter got going was real high.

notes
- bench felt very solid today, took it a little easier due to lack of spotters.
- i almost got beat on the inclines by a 55 year old, man i need more work on those
- the last superset was stupid, i thought i was going to die.
tomorrow im going to have to change my plan a bit. 2 people of the squat group cant make it so we dont have enough spots for me to go heavy.. sucks, but gotta make due.
decided on doing some cambered bar box squats tomorrow, I think ill do them against light double choked bands.
thought about making the 4 hour drive to train with some guys I know, but figured that I having taken a heavy weight the last few weeks anyway, and will every week until the contest most likely.
Also - a guy ive been training with on and off for the last 2 years (hes 51) decided that for this meet hes going to try training with me / doing the same stuff. Going to be interesting for sure. His best lifts are around 705/380/630. Ive already got him pressing well into the 4s now though. Should be fun, ive never done a training cycle leading up to the meet with anyone before. Intensity is getting high in the gym like ive mentioned.
I think for the squat work, we are going to take an approach where we use straight weight up to a certain point, then add bands and do a couple overload sets. The weakest bands I have are lights.. so weights are going to get stupid!
pulldowns and rolling db presses almost killed you?
Man up Frank

took it easy today, figured out how to setup the bands on a monolift as well.
With the band set-up on the monolift the bands help 0 at the top, so its going to be a great overload tool. I'm hoping to work up to around 800 in gear next weekend if I got some spotters. After that Ill strap on the bands and I think ill be able to work past 900. IF i can get my hands on some chains (to setup for saftey) and some real good spotters I may even do some reverse average bands and try hit a grand.
WHAT? Why didn't anyone tell me there was a sale THIS GOOD?
