Decided to hit the gym after getting up at 6:30am. Only 6hrs of sleep the past few days. I need a good nights sleep tonight to recover. I've been pounding the calories today, so now it's just a matter of time and sleep.
Hit the axle today. I counted it as 80, but it feels heavier than that, probably 90 or so...
Wt: 225
Axle push presses, no one knee bend not two:
80x8
102x5
113x5
124x5
135x3
140x2
124x5
Steep incline db presses:
40x8
45x8
50x3 (fatigued)
40x12
T-bar row:
2 platesx8
3 platesx6x2
3 plates and a quarterx6
Shrugs: 225x12x3
Tri Rope Pushdowns: 3 sets
pretty good workout. I still feel pretty sore. I'll see how i feel tomorrow, and if i feel good, then it's time to SQUAT!

here's a vid of Nee this past weekend pulling 410 kilos. Crazy.
He tore some muscles in his bicep on the second to last event (axle) while in 1st place and had to drop out. Had he won, he would have gotten a bid to worlds. Bad luck. Turns out he said they're just small tears and he should be back in 3wks.

has he not done that to his bicep a couple of times now?
big deads. is that regulation height? i mean, obviously it wouldn't pass, but im sure if he trained for it specifically he would have it easy. not many people out there can pull 900lbs.

yea, he tore his bicep pretty bad a few months back on a tire flip and required surgery. Not sure if this was the same one or different.
Tire flips and axles are always the things that you see cause the most injuries in strongman competitions. It's not uncommon to see guys tear theirs on axle deadlifts, or cleans by using too much arm. Same with tires.
Yea, that pull was regulation height and wasn't raised at all. They all have suits on and straps. He didn't hitch that bad though, and hell, it's a 900lb pull in strongman. that's pretty damned good.
Here's a better pic that was posted over on MM:

lol he hitched it like 4 times then took a step. insane weight. i wonder what he would do in a comp with no straps and no hitch. im guessing right around 900 still.

I think he did a video a while back on MM where he pulled 800 or so with no straps and no hitch. Never seen him do 900 cleanly.
That Haugen guy was an animal. Mark Felix is a DL machine. Everytime there was a DL on WSM he crushed at it.

I always wondered.. do strongman train the hitch in the deadlift? I ask this because say my dead max is 625lbs, i know for sure that I couldn't hitch, no matter how hard i tried, 675lbs, it just wouldn't happen. Id get it just past my knees and fall short most likely.

Im not sure about training it in the sense of 'damn bro, I gotta work on my hitching' but some allow it in training while most that I know try to stay as strict as possible.
I think hitching in training is super ghey because thats when you should be working on weaknesses and trying to stay in good form. Let the hitching happen in comps.

This program is brutal. I finished this in about 30 minutes. Flew through it. the sets of 8 at 70% are awful for me because i'm not used to doing over 5 reps. My right quad was twitching by the time my final set of back came along, so the front squats were not very fun.
I'm thinking i'll do some cleans tomorrow.

Mwahahaha awesome. About fucking time. Thats real squatting there; the twitching is awesomess striving to be released.
I did 6x4 at 135kg for FS. That shit was rough.
