Youre using too much arm in that clean
and you need to get your elbows around faster.

Notice how you sit back when the weight gets heavier, you need to do that more rather than just curl in your light sets so you can feel how it pops off your hips.

I only notice it on a few of the reps, your upper back/shoulders look a little rounded forward. The first two reps are good examples.

thanks guys!

I'm going to have to start working on reps soon though, considering the contest is for 450 for reps. I'll see. Maybe work up to 470 or so eventually, but focus more on reps once i get to that point.

Yeah you are. You can see it on the ones where you dont make. You need to throw your hips into this thing and get aggressive or youre going to compensate by curling it.

i don't know if i'll go up that high since the contest weight is only 450. I think i'd be better suited just working up to 450-470, and then concentrate on reps only for 450.

But after the contest, sure!

It was pretty solid. I dont like leaning back a lot like he does, but thats my preference.

I think the best vid Ive seen on a log CJ was that one guy who was an OLer. I think he did 440 or something like that.

jason kristal? He actually just set the log record in a sanctioned competition.

how do you think i should remedy the arm thing w/ my cleans? I don't consciously do it. I know i shouldn't be using my arms....

You know, whats sick is that there are guys in the 85kg class that can CJ that.

As far as the arm thing, you need to drive your hips more and whip your arms around faster. Youre not really aggressive in your drive and thats showing up as more arm work.

that is sick. Of course, how many can jerk a 400lb log (of course, how many have tried?)! He's just an awesome all around athlete, i think.

so, just get more explosive and aggressive on my back whip and whipping my elbows around?

OOoooooooooh snap:

Quote:
Athens - The Greek weightlifting team could miss the Beijing Olympics
and other upcoming international events after 11 of its athletes
failed doping tests last month. The Hellenic Weightlifting Federation
confirmed on Friday that five men and six women from the 14-strong
national team were caught using forbidden substances at out-of-
competition tests carried out by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)
by request of the world governing body IWF on March 7.

The positive tests prompted coach Christos Iacovou to hand in his
resignation, but the national federation said that they would not
consider it as he they had suspended him until the matter had been
examined.

Iacovou, 60, is one of Greece's most respected coaches, whose team
has won five Olympic gold medals along with five silver and two
bronze since the 1992 Games in Barcelona.
The Greek federation did not release names because the examination of
the B-sample is yet to confirm the original finding. The substances
the athletes used were also not named.

The results put the Greek national team at risk of not participating
at the upcoming European Championships in Italy and the Olympics in
Beijing set for August 8-24.

Under anti-doping rules by the International Weightlifting
Federation, entire teams can be suspended from international
competitions for up to two years if three or more athletes fail
doping tests within one year.

The IWF has spoken out such bans before, but then changed them into
fines. Iran, Russia, Argentina and Kazakhstan for instance were
allowed to compete at the 2006 worlds after paying a 50,000-dollar
(32,000 euros) fine for each caught athlete (in Iran's case 450,000
dollars for nine positive tests).
Weightlifting has been plagued by doping over the years, with 42
athletes suspended in 2007 alone, according to the IWF website.
Greece was also involved, with Leonidas Sampanis losing his Olympic
63kg category bronze 2004 in Athens after over a positive test.
