well, i guess that's a good thing as long as the other squats didn't look remotely close to that.

Nice presses!

trap bar deads = more/less weight than straight bar?

I\'m guessing more weight?

i think the bar weighs a bit more than a straight bar (10-20lbs), but i don't factor it in. I think it comes out to 10-20lbs more than my straight bar pulls, so by not factoring it in the weights, it comes out to about the same.

CG Bench:
160x3
170x2 (might be a pr? i dunno.)
175x1 (missed 2nd around lockout. my speed off the chest is crazy, but my tri strength still is lagging)

Strict Axle Overhead:
3x5

Banded Pulldowns:
2x10

Pushdowns:
2 sets

Hammer Curls:
up to 40x6x2

i'm also not sure why "straight bar" is linked in my above post. I didn't do it. probably a new ad thing that jp used to pay for the site.

11-7-07

Front Squats to bench (touch&go):
155x5 (rep pr)
170x2x2 (170x2 was my old pr, so i got 2 sets with it. improving, i guess.)

One legged squats to box:
bwx8x2

Pullthroughs:
mini+purplex10x2

i don't know why front squats suck so bad for me. oh well, as long as i'm getting stronger, it's all that matters.

i forgot to add a picture the last few days

matt k's brother pulling 770. I think he competes in the 242's, and was going to try for a 800 pull in the meet a few weeks ago in Kalamazoo, MI.

Rack lockouts, high board presss.. could all work. But I think just, much heavy sets of bench (no failing) would work better.

Speaking of specialty bars, i think im going to get this bar for this excersize :p EliteFTS - Superior Products and Knowledge for Lifters, Athletes, Coaches, and Trainers

i agree. i haven't really gone to true failure on bench, and it seems to be working well, even though i don't really care about the lift, i think it's one of the best way to improve my overhead press because it will work tri. strength.

That was awesome. I wish i had a monolift so i could lift like that. It's too dangerous to walk a weight like that out.

Today:

Deadlifts:
up to 335x1. didn't feel good, so stopped here. Legs/glutes are still a big sore from 2 days ago.

Incline DB presses:
40x10
50x10
50x8
easy

Seated Rows:
3 or 4 sets up to stackx10. Then i did some with a mini band added

Seated DB power cleans:
2 sets

That's pretty much it. Very shitty workout. I'm deloading all next week, and then i'll hit a heavy overhead next friday, but won't pull. I think i need a week or two off pulling.

Well if you work only triceps, you will miss all of the other musculature that is required to lock something out, shoulders, chest, yada yada. Plus the key thing, specificity and neural patterning.

Boards, boards with bands, boards with chains, rack lockouts, racklockouts with badns, racklockout with chains, steroids, rack lockout with steroids, boards with steroids, bench with steroids, steroids and bench with bands, bench and bands and steroids and chains.

Stuff like that,.

You hang them from the bar. Some people find that adding five pounds is too much. A nice bottle or two sometimes can make for a smoother jump in weight.

ps I was joking about the picture.

Dont go too tri-happy. If you want a big overhead, then learn how to use your legs.

on a bastardized jerk, should i be trying to catch the bar w/ arms locked on the second knee bend? or should it be a catch and then a lockout?

i've been doing the catch then lockout, because i think i'm not quick or strong enough to get under those weights fast enough.

Catch it with straight arms.

All you need is overhead support which is kinda like holding a heavy bench without actually benching. Stop thinking and start doing.

alright. thanks guys.

i've been lazy the past week, which is good. I'm going to try and get a good amount of sleep today. Also, i'm going to start pounding the calories when i get home until i go to sleep. Maybe hit up chipotle on the way home.

I've been eating fewer meals, but more calories per meal. Yesterday i had around a 1000k meal consisting of a giant omelet made with 4 whole eggs, around 3 whites, ham cheese, peppers, and onions. Then 16oz of milk, and then 2 yogurts.

Did some foam rolling and tennis ball rolling last night. Lots of work on my IT bands, which seem to tighten up within 2 days if i don't do any type of foam rolling on them. I feel ready to lift tomorrow. It will be a good workout.
