thanks Jill! Check out the group. Some of the tracks are killer while others are kinda sleepers. Still a good album.

Please remind me to give myself more than 1 day before pulling heavy.

Today:
Deadlifts:
245x5
275x3
315x6 (this ties my pr. I've done 325x6 LAST october, but they were touch and go. these were dead stop) All double overhand, w/o straps too. Grip is coming along as well.

8" Log Split jerks:
110x3
120x3
140x3
felt good and easy. got into a big conversation that lasted 10 minutes, tried for 150, and was cold, so i shut it down.

Chins:
bwx2x8

Stones:
220, 240, 290, all to a 50-something inch platform
tried the 308 a few times. broke it off the ground, but failed to lap.

Real good workout. Had a good group today. A couple guys from indy, some high school kids and then the usual group.

Hey, i downloaded that album and listened to it while I trained today. Really good! Reminds me a little of Pulp too.

Nice workout. How much less do you you weigh now vs. when you last had that PR? You are way stronger and healthier now!

glad you like it! I LOVE the first 2 tracks on that album. I thought it kinda sounded like Jesus and mary chain.. the drone-like tracks.

greg cartright has a new album out now that's supposed to be good. have it but haven't listened to it yet.

I'm about 30lbs lighter now than i was when i hit that last pr. So yea, things are moving well! Hitting the same weights i was at a heavier weight, and i feel a lot more flexable. I would definitely recommend seeing bill and mike for anyone wanting to improve their flexibility and wellness. If it wasn't for them, i probably wouldn't have dropped the weight to begin with.

I'm thinking about spending 4 months-6 weeks or so in the winter, when the weather's bad and i can't make it to kokomo, and doing UD and dropping down to 185 or so for some ab-age, and then stay lean and spend a few years slowly gaining mass. One thing i love about dropping all that weight is that my conditioning is really improved. I can pretty much do all the workouts that i've been doing in 45 minutes and am rarely out of breath where before i was. it's great.

Sorry for the rant. haha.

if your goal is still strength, i think dropping to 185 is going to kill it. I don't see why you cant just gain lean weight from the weight you are at now and get some serious strength gains.

it is strength. I still have a lot of room to grow, but am still holding some fat that really serves no purpose. I think some things would go down, specifically, tire flip and sled drag, where it helps to be a little heavier.

I dunno. Maybe i won't do a super strict diet, but just throw in some cardio once or twice a week, and see where my weight goes. As long as my strength stays or gains, i can't see any negative.

yes, but it will be a ripped 185. Not skinny 185.

I'm sitting around 203-207 right now.

You just wouldn't be gaining the maximum amount of strength.

well, i wouldn't be staying at that weight a long time. It would just be the base weight that i would start to gain mass from.... I dunno. nothing definite. just thinking out loud now.

That makes sense, but 185 is just really damn light for your height.

i totally agree. But, if what i'm losing is fat, then i'd rather be a ripped 185 then a soft 205. Of course, i'd rather not be 185 at all.

I feel for you on the weight thing. I'm 6'1" and just under 180 right now. I still have a couple of lbs of fat to lose to ab up. I want to be 190-200lbs. Someday...

190-200 with good abz would look good even on gigantors like you two!

Alco, you back at school yet? How's life? And any plans to compete in anything soon?

i'm finished with school. studying now to get certified for personal training. It's a big thick book though. haha

I may compete this year if Chad puts on a contest. He asked me the other day if he had one if i would compete, so i think he's considering maybe a december/november contest? If not, then i may just compete next spring, and spend this winter staying healthy and getting stronger.

138x4
138x4 this set felt really easy and good

10-5-09:

Bench:
105x5
125x5
140x8

T Bar Row:
2 platesx8
3 platesx6x3
2 plates+quarterx15
s/s
Pushups: 50 total over 4 sets

Concentration curls: 3x8
s/s
pushdowns: 3x10

ok workout. shoulder was a little sore, and i worked out on 4hrs of sleep after work. so all things considered, a good workout. I'm not going to bench or press for probably the next 7 or 8 days, and give my shoulders a little rest. Feeling a little fatigued by all the upper body work lately.

Planning on squatting tomorrow, and then deadlifting sometime later this week.

Box Squats:
130x5
150x5
170x5

DB Split Squats:
30x6
35x5
40x6x2

Banded Leg Curls: green- 2x12

Hanging Leg Raises: 2x8

very tired today. another day working 8.5hrs on 4 or 5hrs of sleep. Tomorrow i have to work 8hrs, and then screen a movie for 3hrs at my old college, so i really need some shut eye tonight.

I really want to compete in something in the next few months. Maybe a strongman contest, maybe a raw or lightly geared pling meet?

Get some sleep, Brah!

It's amazing how much lack of sleep can affect your workouts. When I had my carpal tunnel really bad I was waking up 8-10 times a night and was making absolutely no progress with my strength. I'm glad that's in the past.

i totally agree dudette.

i got 6hrs last night, ended up working 7:30-4 today, and now have to screen a film at 6:45-9.

Pretty tired, but looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.

How come no one reminded me not to deadlift after squats, and then squat again after deadlifts?

10-10-09:

Deadlifts:
225x5
250x5
285x8

Front squats to box (13.5" box):
95x5
115x5x3

Chinups:
5x3

Good workout. Video in a minute. Looks like i was good for at least 10 reps on the pulls. Lockout just gets a little harder when you're fatigued and not touch and go style.

Pulls are looking pretty good now, just make sure you lock your knees at the top.

you look like you are trying to slowly squeeze the bar off the ground, rip it off the ground with 100% force.

thanks. I'm almost sure i am locking out the knees at the top, i think it's just the lighting and the sweats. I'll keep an eye on it though, thanks.

I'll work on it, thanks. I think it's partially b/c i'm still a little lenient of putting a lot of force on my leg/hip and also b/c i'm using more leg drive than i was before. I think it's all around a mental thing though, i'll try and work on it.
