I thought Control was pretty good. The actor that played Ian Curtis was really really good (Sam Riley). Curtis wrote some great lyrics for those Joy Division songs and pparently he listened to Iggy Pop's "The Idiot" right before he hung himself. Great album!

I've been listening to The Twilight Singers quite a bit lately. I also have an unnatural obsession with Neil Young right now - especially his On The Beach and Zuma albums. I got one of those SqueezeBox Booms for the house and now have a subscription to Rhapsody. It's like a whole new world out there!

hmmm... i didn't know that about the Iggy song. I may have to watch the movie. I'm more partial to Stooges era Iggy, but some of his solo stuff is pretty decent.

I'm a huge neil young fan, and he's one of the only singers i wanna see in concert right now, except he never tours. Did you listen to his new box set? I heard it's pretty awesome but costly.

Man, I wish big brother didn't block vids at work. It significantly impairs my ability to keep up.

I'll probably be training later today, but just a few things going on here...

We found a baby kitten out by the road in front of our house. So, we pretty much adopted it until we can find a better home. We keep it in a cage in our house when we're gone since it still has claws and is not house trained, and then take it out later. I personally don't want another cat in our house because of how much effort it takes with them, but the rest of my family does. BUT, it is a very cute kitten, and i'll try and get some posts of it laterz.

My new manager from work is trying to hook me up on a blind date w/ someone from her older store. Apparently, there are like 4 people that are in on this, trying to get it to happen, and the expectations now are pretty ridiculous. The manager from the other store called me twice yesterday trying to set stuff up. I will probably end up doing it though, since there's nothing to lose.

Training later!

Cute cat! Aren't cats just automatically housetrained? When I got mine I just showed them the litter box and ... voila trained!

Blind dates can be great or just bad. It's always interesting to see who you're friends think you'll like. Meh, can't hurt though right?

yea, she's actually pretty much housetrained now, so that's cool.

I agree on the blind date. It'll actually be kinda awkward though, but whatever. We'll see.

7-18-09:

DB Overhead Press:
35x8x3
s/s
Face Pulls:
3x12

Sandbag Loading:
heavyx1, x2
+25-30lbs
missx3. just tooooo awkward

Stones:
230x3 (might be a pr?)
270x1
270x2 (pr?)

Stones felt very very good tonight. I could have kept going on the stones, but i've never lapped or loaded the 270ish stone (could be 280?), and when i went to regrip a few times, it was just dirt and dust from the stone. I'll need to use it a few more times to get all that junk off.

Presses felt really easy which they should be. I'll be doing db work, and then probably the log since it's a neutral grip.

no video, because i couldn't operate a camera w/o getting tacky all over it.

Hey Zach, I know I don't post much on here but I just wanted to say nice work the past couple of months. It's not easy to take a step back and really address your issues, but you've done a great job and I think you're starting to reap the benefits.

And ladies, thanks for keeping him in line and showing support. That never hurts, either

Stay strong

thanks a bunch Mike. I gotta say that your programs really helped address some flexibility issues that have been lingering for years. And, thanks for kicking me in the ass a few times to get my head on straight. Hopefully next time Tony or Eric comes down to IFAST, i can grab a session with you guys!

7-21-09:

CG Bench:
125x10
130x8
130x6

BA Chins:
3 sets, reps 6-8

ITYs: 2x10
Face Pulls: 2x10

quick workout finished in around 20-25 min. I'm gonna hit the log for the first time in like 6 months tomorrow, along with squats, since it's my day off.

7-22-09:

Log Press:
100x8x2
110x6
90x5 (strict)

Squats:
95x5
105x5
115x5
125x5
135x5
115x8

Blast strap pushups: 3x8
s/s
t bar rows: 3x8

good workout. Good to be back pressing again. I kept the squats and presses real light, and will slowly increase the weight over time. I actually jerked the logs for a few reps, and they felt a lot better, and i was pretty much able to catch them better. I think it's b/c of my weight loss, and i'm able to move a little bit quicker than 30lbs ago.

Next workout will probably be events fri or sat. I'll probably hit some deads or farmers picks, possibly stones, maybe a carry, and some upper back prehab

7-25-09:

10" log cleans:
50x3
90x3
100x3
120x3
130x3
tried a new way of cleaning these. I think it works better with a smaller log like this or an 8", but the 12" and bigger work better with a lap and clean. Still using too much arm on a few of these though.

Deadlifts (first time pulling in over 6 months):
135x5
185x5
225x3
255x3

Split Squats:
barx6
65x6
85x6x2

Keg Carries:
2 trips with a 160 or so keg. These trips were around 120 ft or so. I lapped and cleaned the second one, holding it on my chest, and this sucked. Felt like i was going to pass out when i finished.

Good workout.

Here's some pics of the new kitty we rescued. She's definitely a lolz cat:

Here she is trying to head to the gym with me.

Her favorite place to sleep is an old shoe box:

My family likes Bobbit, but i like Pickle.

thanks. I'm debating whether to diet off a few more lbs, or stay around this weight for awhile and maybe lose weight w/o trying. I'm kinda afraid if i lose any more weight and get under 200, my lifts are going to start to suffer.

seriously? that's where i've pretty much always grabbed it? I think it's b/c i take a slightly wider stance b/c of my weight. I dunno. I'll try and move it in a bit and see how it feels.

Your grip should be so narrow that your forearms brush up against the sides of your thighs on the way up, much more efficient.
