Alco, how many windows do you have open? I'm lucky, I open 20 or so windows on several computers at work and that makes it more likely to get in.

i only had 1 open. I thought if i tried to open another one, i'd lose my place in line.

I got tix to the brewers/cubs game on sept 16. Should be a good game, especially if both are making a playoff run.

Well, it's too late now, but for next year know this- all you have to do is copy the link once you're in, then open a new tab in I.E. and past the link in there. This way you can have multiple windows open (cubs.com doesn't want that, but this is a way around it). It's like bingo cards- you have a much greater chance of getting in.

edited to add- you won't lose a spot like a line, it's a random drawing of VWR windows- since you'd have several open, you increase your chance of being drawn.

cool, thanks dude! i'll remember that next year for sure. I'll have to wake up early to get them next year. Hopefully they'll be winning, but probably not.

You should join northsidebaseball.com. It's a good Cubs message board. That's where I learned the trick about getting tickets. Last fall, a guy on there started a thread about the Cubs releasing more game 5 first round playoff tickets and I scored some for my father-in-law (though sadly, they didn't get that far).

But, it really is a good board and a great place to get all your Cub news at one time. I post under 'wade'.

nice man! thanks for the info. I'll definitely be checking it out around playoff time to try and score some tix. It's nearly impossible to get playoff tix for them though!

I have been lazy. Still keeping up with the foam rolling though...

2-26-09:
RDLs:
165x12
190x12
205x12
the bar at school is shit. I had to keep regripping because there was NO knurling on the bar+sweat. It's completely smooth. I'll have to bring straps next time.

DB Split Squats:
20x12
25x12x2

CSR:
+70x12
+80x12
+90x10
finally starting to get some semi-respectable numbers on this demon machine

Pushups: 3x12. Even though i was supposed to do incline pushups, i moved to regular because incline are way too easy for me. These were still very explosive.

ITW's + rotators

ok workout as everything went up. My hip and back are still real sore. While this program is definitely making me more flexible and loose, improving my weak points, and helping me lose weight, it's not really helping my hip and back that much. It still aches every day i wake up to every night when i go to bed. I'm thinking I may hit up a chrio soon and see if my SI joint is jacked or something. If that doesn't work, then i'm thinking maybe an MRI or something, but that will be the last straw.

I'm just real frustrated with this whole situation since i can't squat or deadlift heavy without feeling it.

Sucks that your back and hip are jacked up, Zach....

What did Mike and Bill think about that particular issue(s), anyway?

they thought it was just tight muscle groups that were causing it. While this made sense, i don't think it would get just as irritated as before doing RDLS with all the other added flexibility, foam rolling, and stretching stuff.

I'm still gonna be working on flexibility stuff and single leg work so i can be good to go when i get it fixed.

I got the name of a sports medicine doctor that guys at the gym go to. He also has a CSCS as well, and does o-lifting. So, he won't dick me around like a regular doctor and tell me to just stop lifting.

I dunno, Zach, I got sorer than a mofo when I really started rolling and stretching and my biomechanics changed slightly... so it's possible that your mobility stuff is indirectly responsible via that.

Or I might just be an idjit. Possible.

no, it's the same sort of pain that i've been experiencing.

If i sit for an extended period of time, especially in classroom seats, my back and hip tighten up, and i can barely sit through an hour long class. When i get up, i'm pretty much hunched over b/c it takes a few seconds for it to loosen up. After that, it's just mildly sore, but still, not the foam rolling. This is a different sort of pain... i'm guessing either a small tear or a bad strain.

the back/hip pain I get

i'm still here. Rehab isn't going too great, as the pain isn't getting any better. flexibility is getting better though, so once my hip gets better, i should be able to squat decently. Still have a ways to go though before back squats

There's nothing really eventful to post. I did some lower body stuff on tues with lots of lunges. And played basketball tonight. I totally sucked bad. As i've gotten stronger, i lost the 'touch' that i had before, so my shots are shot way too hard or too light.

And new metallica sucks!

Alright guys, a little update:

postponing really doing any leg work/back work until i get this hip/back thing worked out. I may do things like BW step ups, but no weighted RDLs b/c they seem to irritate it, and no type of squat. This means i'll have to postpone doing the program for a bit until things get sorted out.

I've been going to my friend's dad's office who's a chiropractor. Got adjusted today, and it actually felt pretty good! He says that my left side in the lower back is swollen, so he told me to start icing a lot, which i've been doing. Also said my pelvis is twisted, and a few of the vertebra need to be adjusted from the scan they did. The lower 3 are not right, and one of the upper ones (probably from when the yoke slipped). Already, it's starting to feel pretty good, and i'll be going back tomorrow for another adjustment.

The cost is pretty low on this too. But, i'll be keeping the appointment w/ the sports medicine doctor next week. I just won't have him run any sort of expensive MRI's though since my insurance sucks and the deductible is so high.

Anyways, so yesterday:

just some lighter stuff...

3/5/09:
seated db shoulder press: up to 45x10 (pr i think)
pushups: 25
some arm stuff... curls and pushdowns

3/6/09:
Bench (i'm not doing an arch as to not irritate my back. Just putting the weight on my upper back, and feet flat on the floor):
135x5
145x5
155x5
best is 165x5 so good to see i haven't lost much. 155 was pretty easy, so i'll be ramping the weight up again next week. probably 160-165x3-4

3 bd press (cg):
165x5
170x5
155x7

BA Pullups
Rotator work
Face Pulls
Pushups: 12

3-10-09:

DB Incline:
35x12
45x10
50x10
60x6
65x3
45x15

CSR:
+55x10
+80X10
+100X12
+115X6
(best set last time was 90x10)

Pushdowns:
3 sets

Curls:
2 sets+ 1 drop set (i felt totally ghey here doing this in a school gym, with other frat guys w/ cutoffs doing curls looking at the mirror).

Gonna hit up the chiro tonight, and then sports med in 2 days.

I've been icing, taking tons of aspirins, fish oils and healthy fats to bring down some of the inflammation. Seems to be working b/c it feels decent. I'm also being aware of the everyday movements i do, like bending down to pick things up, getting into the car, etc as to not put uneven pressure on one side. Also using my arms more to get out of chairs, and bed (kinda like an old man)

looked at the xrays today. My spine's all crooked which twists my pelvis. Some area around my pelvis that's muscle or nerves or something is basically supposed to be an inch or so of clear space in it, but it's pretty smashed down on the left side, which explains the pinching feeling.

He said that it was something that i have had for quite some time, probably when i was a kid, and when i lift, i'm unable to protect my lower back b/c my spine isn't in the right position.
