Ouch! Shhhhh, don't tell anyone. I want to be able to sell my house some day and I won't be able to do that if nobody buys American cars.

IMO, american auto manufactures shit the bed. They should have been producing energy efficient cars (30+ mpg at least) close to 10 years ago. They wanted to make bigger cars as a status symbol.

There was a story on the news that talked to an american plant... i think it was hundai. When the gas prices rose, they switched to producing more smaller cars, and barely any bigger ones. This change only took something like a few days to a week. Then we have the ford and gm plants saying that it would take them a long time to make this change, which frankly isn't true.

I don't think it's the fact that american made cars are junk... i think it's more to the fact that you can buy smaller, more dependable, more gas efficient cars from foreign companies for the same price or less than american cars.

If ford or GM marketed a small cheap car for the recession, 10,000-12,000 new, i think we would see a huge increase in sales, but then the auto workers would have to take a pay cut too, which is a completely different issue....

Squats:
115x15
135x10
165x8

DB Bulgarian Split Squats:
bw+15sx8
bw+20sx8x2

Hamstring Curls:
100x12
130x8
145x6

Chest Supported Rows:
3 sets

Not a bad workout. No hip or back pain from squats, which is a good thing! High rep squats are gay, but at least they'll help with my conditioning. I plan, for the rest of the semester, to have the 2 light days for my class, then 1 heavy day where i'll squat and press heavy. This will give my body a little break from going heavy all the time, but at the same time, give me some endurance for events since anything over 6 reps sucks for me.

Our other training partner showed up today. His squat form wasn't too bad. McSpotty's form was meh. His squats were quarter squats at best, and his warmup set was 225.

Both of them loved/hated the idea of bulgarian split squats.

I may hit a 20 repper one of these days at school.

When do you go see Bill for your evaluation?

I didn't know you were so auto-knowledgeable. Are you not interested in buying a Volt when it comes out?

i'm heading down there Friday at around 6am for a 10am meeting.

I'm not real auto-knowledgeable.. i just try to have some sort of knowledge in every field. I probably wouldn't buy a car the first year that the model was pressed. I'll have to see what kinds of reviews it gets.

Yeah, they are gonna have a bit of work and subsequent retooling, I'm thinking, to do to catch up with the Japanese manufacturers.... I hope it (the Volt) succeeds though. I'd like to want to buy an American car again, but they just suck currently. At least, the energy-efficient type.

At least you can pick up a couple year old american car for almost nothing these days. I agree that they are not as good, but with the price difference its hard to pass up in terms of used cars at times.

dodge colt, same as a mirage though.

got it for $800 and ive had it for almost 4 years, i had to replace the distributor in it once, and that's it. In that time ive put on 100,000km+. I'm thinking of buying something new, but i figure i could that money towards a pretty good downpayment on a house (once i feel the prices hit the bottom). Good car will come one day.. lol.. just need my own house and gym first

oops, i meant saturday.

So, I got there around 10:20 for my 10am appointment, because i couldn't find the place! It's in a development in a winding road by a home depot. The street is unlabeled as well, which made it hard to locate. And, in addition to that, i stopped at a villiage pantry (a gas station), and asked the people there where the street was, and they had no idea. Turns out, they were in the same development, and it was only a street down or so. ugggg...

There was a scheduling mix up, and Mike ran late as well, so that worked out well. Mike did a full assessment, and Bill did a bit of ART on my psoas. There are a number of things i need to work on, mainly adductors, hamstring flexibility, core strength, (front and side planks and the like) and glute strength. Basically, my hips are so bound up now, that there is really no where for me to go when i'm squatting, which, would explain why i squat high, because it's pretty much impossible for me to reach depth with decent form on a back squat. Mike said it was obvious watching me during a squat test, that i would favor my left side (the side that hurts), maybe b/c the right side is tighter.

The good news is that Mike thinks that this can all be fixed, and he said once it is, i'll probably see a jump in my numbers b/c i'll be able to move the weight the way i'm supposed to, and probably see a jump in bw as well.

Anyway, training will be altered a bit come monday.

Hey, that's great! So did they write you a program to help correct the issues? Can't wait to see how things change. Yay!

yea,i need to get a GPS, but i just dumped a ton of cash the past few weeks on things like IPODs, so..... it's gonna have to wait.

Their place is like 5-10 minutes away from me. I haven't been there, but I know where it is. Glad you found it, and had such a good session!

I am traveling a lot for work right now, but once the traveling slows down (when I get a new job), I might go in and get an assessment. My hips are crazy tight, too. And the best guys in the business are right under my nose!

2-10-09:

Bench:
115x10
145x8
125x8

Lat Pulldowns:
3 sets up to 140x8

Seated Overhead DB Press:
25x12
35x10
40x10

Should have my workouts from Mike today. We have a test in the class on thursday, but it shouldn't be a big deal since it's just a half mile run and bodyweight stuff (chins, dips, and pushups)

Well, all I gotta say is.... VIDS.

Before and after stuff would be awesome, Zach. I'm curious to see what visibly changes and over what interval.

ha!

I'm checking with Mike to make sure it's ok with him if I post the stuff here.

I will probably be taking before/after shots. I know mike took quite a few different posture shots when i went down there. We will also be working on body composition as well... i'm thinking i'll drop to a little above 200 and then slowly gain again by the time i'm able to do heav(ier) front squats in a bit. This will be around a 20lb loss or so, but the fat's not doing me any good now.

The program is A LOT different than the stuff i've been doing, but it's what i need which is a good thing. Fixing this stuff will probably take some time, but it will pay off in the long run. Then it's just a matter of staying healthy!

Hey Zach, I'm so excited you got your plan and you're ready to go! I think you'll really benefit from this re-tooling time and it will set you up with a great foundation for the future.

BTW...I trained today and listened to The Gaslight Anthem. Great recommendation. Thanks!

Gaslight is pretty good. I listened to Dre, the chronic while doing cardio today. It made me wanna toke one rather than doing boring cardio.

If it's important to you, you'll make it work. If I can train while being a mom to a 4 year old and having a job that has me averaging 60-70 hours a week...you can to id too.

Boxing cardio? Are we talking Tae Bo?
