Okay here's the page for club videos(I'll upload a few more older club videos when I get a hold of them this weekend hopefully), but I uploaded my entire comp there. You can see the video here:

Southern Powerlifting Club on blip.tv

All I need now is that cool font that's on the other vids haha!

Haha, 82.5kg class for the rest of the year, want national records. I'll probably stay in the 82.5kgs next year too haha, and then bulk to 90kg in 2010, and get a hyooge boost in strength

If there's any records worth going after it's the 82.5kg class, Australia's best lifter for the past 4 years has all the 82.5kg records in the sub juniors, juniors, and open class!

Not much shorter, less than an inch.

I'll move up weight classes slowly over the next few years, I'm 100% sure I'll move up to the 90kg class, probably the 100kg class too later on, not sure if I'll get to 110kg. I'm gonna do it slowly, I think that's the best way to do it, get as strong as i can in each weight class, and then move up, and get a big boost from the increased body weight.

Makes sense, even for ipf if you want to compete at 90kg you got to be like 95kg at least in the offseason i think. for other feds, you can drop a whole weight class.

Yeah exactly, even though I'm in the 82.5kg class, I'm not even what you would call a "full 82.5" lifter. I could gain 3-4kgs and still make weight. So I will be getting bigger for a while, but staying in the same weight class.

I asked the top 90kg lifter how much he weighed last weekend, he goes "101kg, I'm starting my diet for nationals next week"(nationals are on july 27th) HAHAHAHHAHA that's a bit nuts though, I ain't dieting for 5 weeks, but if I'm 87kg, I can easily drop to 82.5kg in a week plus sauna.

I'll diet for the week before the contest, dehydrate, and sauna. No more than that hah!

Although it would be cool to do what that guy does, drop 11kgs for a meet! Apparently hes back up to 97kgs a few days after!!! This guy has a national squat record of 305kg @ 90kg, so maybe there is something to this...

Southern Powerlifting Club on blip.tv

I took the video down for a bit, so if anyone tried to watch it before, its back up there, along with all the other southern powerlifting videos.

Look up matt K over at elitefts. He does this all the time. 20+ lbs. Guys over at marunde's board does water loading, and then dehydration before meets to make weight.

i'll watch your vids tonight. work now!

I was 96-97 kilos the day before weigh in for my last meet I weighed in at 88.9kg, so i had room to spare.

My plan is this:
get to 105-106kg or so and compete (may or may not cut weight, whats the point if no WR ) smash big prs.

then ill diet to 90kg over the course of a couple months while maintaining/gaining some strength.

then the 3 months prior to nationals next year ill slowly bulk up to right around 97-98kg, cut weight, compete at 90kg.

That way im doing my hardest training while in a calorie surplus.. makes sense in my head lol.

It's a bit different with 2-hour weigh-ins compared to 24 and 48 HOUR weigh-ins though! You can't completely fuck yourself up like those guys do, because you only have 2 hours until you gotta lift!!!

just watched all your lifts, my comments:

squats looked good - dont go so deep, sit back more

bench looked good - i think you could stay tighter and retract your shoulder blades alot more (hard as hell in a bench shirt). Crank the higher boards.

deadlifts looked great! - just get stronger, and maybe try to preload the lift a little bit to get some stretch reflex i find this helps me off the ground. Your form is miles ahead of mine for the deads.

Thanks,

Tim mentioned the sitting back thing to me once too, I'm going to ask him about this on Saturday.

My problem on the bench is just shirt related, its hard to get the bar down, so i compromise my elbows(not under the bar enough) when coming down, and can't flick them back under on the way up. Something like that haha, anyway I end up pressing the bar forwards, rather than back towards my head like I should, thats what happens every single time I fuck up a bench press.

My bench set-up is okay, but something to work on there keeping tighter.

I'm pretty good with form, and Tim who I train with is a top lifter over here, with probably some of the best technique around, so I get good advice too!

I like to goto powerlifting comps, not drug tests comps that happen to have a little powerlifting in the corner

I'm way late (for some reason I thought the meet was this Saturday). Sorry dude.
Good work though! Wicked lifts man.

I tried to watch the video, but someone must have taped over your tape with the women's meet. This was one ugly chick though. Yuck.

Did you have to punch extra holes in your belt so you could get it tight enough?

I can get my belt tighter haha, I might go one notch tighter for my next meet hah!

I have 4 more notches to make it bigger, and 5 more to make it smaller.

Okay, I just tightened my belt 1 more notch, its still fine, I'm gonna try it out tomorrow for some light squats with 110kg, maybe I can go another tighter

I'm too poor to get a haircut, so I think I'll grow my hair long And I prefer being like 40lbs lighter, but still stronger than you Matthew hah! :

You dont want it to tight for squats. You want to make the biggest 'base' possible remember.

I drilled mine out another size smaller so I could use it with my bench shirt. Squats is 2 sizes up from that.

You just finished admitting that I squat more than you raw. You can't compare your suited lifts to my raw lifts, that doesn't make you stronger.
You can probably bench more raw though, I don't know.

Frank, I tighten my belt for squats as much as I tighten it for deads, which is as tight as I can get it. I've tried squatting heavy with the belt loose one notch, but I like tighter better.

I wasn't comparing my suited lifts to your raw lifts.

Yeah, you have squatted more than me raw now, but I haven't done a heavy raw single since February , so 4 months ago. I'll start doing a single every week working up to a new raw PR in the next few weeks, I'm aiming for about 165kg.

I'm going to do the same with my bench press, I've done 105kg before, but I've also done 110kg for a triple on 1 board. So I'm aiming for 115kg. I'm not getting much out of shirts yet.

Equipment gives shit all to my deadlift, so I probably won't bother testing a raw max there as they are probably within 5kg of eachother
