Haha!!

Man I'm so bored now, if I could press a button and sleep from now(3:20pm) till 10am tomorrow I would. Then it would just be sleep... BANG benching in a better shirt! and skipping the "nothing to do" part.

10/05/08 Saturday

Bench Press Day

Bench Press

44lbs x 12
---shirt on(42 titan fury)---
143lbs x 2 no touch
198lbs x 2 touched
242lbs x 1 PAUSED
253lbs x 1 PAUSED PR
264lbs x 1 PAUSED PR head came off bench

Board Press(3 boards) no shirt
220lbs x 6(2 sets) paused last rep of each set

Lat Pulldown
120lbs x 10(3 sets)

Hammer curls

30lbs x 15(2 sets)
30lbs x 7 - i got wrecked here, or psyched out haha

Comments:

-Got another(tighter) bench shirt on today, an size 42 Titan Fury, it's a bit ripped up hah
-I touched 198lbs, the shirt is still a loose one. I will buy a size 40 fury to use soon, but I'll use a 42 for this first competition as I wouldn't be able to get a 40 soon enough
-I kinda fucked up both PRs, the 253 and the 264. Miss grooved both, but managed to correct them. For both I started out pressing it too far forward, and pretty much had to stop and bring the bar back towards my head/chest. I'm a bit shit at using a shirt hah, I will learn...
-264 took pretty long as correcting it took a bit, but if I get it right I can get alot more. My head came off the bench, I didn't even notice it hah, the shirts tend to do that I think, gotta remember to keep my head on the bench
-If i groove it right I should be good for 275-286
-Board Presses were easy, will start to load up the weight on these soon
-5 weeks out today

there are a few benchers who used to lift their heads before touching, and then on the press, slam their heads back into the bench

Yeah I think thats what I probably did, I think that's what the shirts do, they pull your head up when you are lowering the bar as the shirt tightens. It would have been a failed lift because of that though, as I have to keep my head on the bench in IPF competition. Shouldn't be too hard to do though.

If I buy a shirt now, I'll want it by May 24th so I can use it for my last 2 Bench Press sessions, I might order a size 40 Fury(possibly an f6 I dunno) tomorrow night and hope for the best. I'll probably need over 240 to touch with a size 40 I hope, it should be a good fit.

I bought that 31 HardCore, it's only been used once apart from when I used it last week, so its pretty much new. Sweet, now I own a good fitting squat suit, next up, bench shirt. My equipment arsenal is building: suit, knee & wrist wraps, belt, lifting shoes, deadlift slippers. I'll probably get a soft suit for Bench Pressing too.

Actually I only need it by May 31st, It should be sweet. Gonna go talk to Tim and maybe Steve too about if I should get an f6, but they seem to prefer the Fury, will order soon after I talk to them about it!

11/05/08 Sunday

Squat Day

Squat
44lbs x 6
143lbs x 6
---suit(31 inzer hardcore) on, straps down---
242lbs x 3
---straps up---
352lbs x 1 - possibly the shittest squat ever, not hard though
---straps down---
286lbs x 6(3 sets) PR

NG Seated Cable Row(right machine - light one)
6 plates x 12
7 plates x 12(2 sets)

Lying EZ-Bar Extension

bar+44lbs x 10(3 sets)

Shrugs
242lbs x 5(2 sets)

Comments:
-After getting into a loose suit during the week, I had forgotten how tight this suit was... went on faster as I had suit slippers today, but it took me ages to get it off, ouch...
-the 352 lbs squat was just a warmup and to get the suit seated properly. It was pretty shit, as I came down I got pulled forward(I'm not really used to suits yet), so I decided to pause for a bit at the bottom(too deep I think) to get stable again, but as I came up I still had too much weight on my toes and had to step forward a bit at the top to stop falling over, went up with okay speed, lockout was a little slow due to being off-balance. Not heavy though, with just a suit and no wraps or belt.
-A PR for suit only(no belt/wraps), but I'm only going to count and think of PRs as raw, or equipped, nothing inbetween. A bullshit PR like the 385 anyway(meaning, I can do alot more )
-the sets were damn easy, I could have done this raw, much easier than I thought it would be which is good, suit bottom still gives a bit I think. It feels good to be repping that so easily
-I think I'll go to 308lbs for 4x4 next week, not sure may put staps up I'll talk to my coach
-I want to order my bench shirt(size 40 Titan Fury) within the next days, gotta get in contact with some club members so we can do a combined order and split the shipping hah. I think I've found a soft suit, second hand one from an ex-club lifter who came in today to drop of the stuff, should get it cheap.
-I should be able to press out 286lbs now in the size 40 fury(I hope), or close to it. So I'll be expecting 286-308 in the meet after I work the board presses harder.

Sweet, ordered a Size 40 Blue Titan Fury from LiftingLarge.com LLC, and some suit slippers.

The shirt should be on its way soon, excellent... bigger bench pressing here I come!

Thanks,

These goals of 308/440/506 are for my first powerlifting competition on June 14. I should set an unofficial national total record if all goes well.

Also lifting large has just shipped my bench shirt, damn they are bloody fast!

I agree, especially raw squatting... equipped is much nicer!

I look forward to getting on a shirt that is the right size for me. I hope I can get the hang of it fast and not fuck up too many reps!(seems more to using shirts than suits I've found so far).

I found out that the 198lb Class Sub-junior national record for the Bench Press is 302.5lbs, compared to the 181lbs record of 313.5. I'm aiming to take the 181lb record at the end of the year yes, but I might do a bench only competition in September int he 198lb class(I'll just do it at like 185lbs) just to steal that record too hah, by then I should be benching a fair bit more than that anyway, so I might be able to open on the record

I'll tell my coach about my idea and see what he thinks, hehehe. Free record almost lol, and then when i compete in november(or december) I'll hopefully break the 313.5lb 181lb record, and make it higher than my own 198lb record hah!

Then again this whole plan could fail miserably as I might not even be eligible for records by then, as I have to be a member of the federation for 6 months or more!(which I will be in November). Fuck, I just remembered that after I typed all the stuff above lol...

Both those records dont seem very high, go put your name on them.
Hopefully your crazy plan works out.

Haha yeah my crazy plan, the 6 month rule is annoying. I'd like to take both of them because I can hah, but I might need to formulate a new plan for the 198lb one...

13/05/08 Tuesday

Speed Bench Day

Speed Bench Press(3 bands)

44lbs x 10 - no bands
44lbs x 6
88lbs x 3(4 sets)
88lbs x 3(4 sets) - close grip

CG Board Press(2 boards)
143lbs x 6
209lbs x 4(3 sets) PR

Rope Triceps Pushdown
50lbs x 10
60lbs x 10(2 sets)

Hammer Curls

44lbs x 8(3 sets)

Comments:

-Very comfortable PR on the boards, will take it to 220lbs next week I think
-This is the start of the 4th last week of training until the meet
-Will deadlift tomorrow my suit(tight, 31 HardCore), do an easy single at 440lbs with full gear, and then sets with suit bottoms only at 385lbs for 4x4, next week 407lbs for 3x4 I'm thinking

14/05/08 Wednesday

Deadlift Day

Deadlift using 31 Inzer HardCore
---suit on---
143lbs x 6
242lbs x 4
---straps up---
341lbs x 2
---belt on---
440lbs x 1
--straps down, belt off---
385lbs x 4(4 sets) PR

Speed Squats

44lbs x 6
143lbs x 3
176lbs x 3(8 sets)

Dumbbell Rows

105lbs x 10(3 sets) PR

Comments:
-Deadlifts were good, PR(did one more set than I did last time at this weight).
-Next week is going to be hard, 3 sets of 4 with a minimum of 407lbs(407-418 not sure yet), in a full suit with straps up
-will add belt to sets the week after, for doubles of 440, and then doubles of 462+ the week after(last week)
-With the full equipment on, it's a bit hard to get a full breath, I have to practice this. With the 440lbs I didn't get a full breath in, this would have effected me on a heavier weight I think.

My bench shirt(40 fury) arrived today, but I was at work! FUCK!

Now I have to wait until Monday to collect it because the bloody post office doesn't open on weekends! Shit!

Oh well, I didn't need it for tomorrows session anyway, but this is still ghey!

17/05/08 Saturday

Bench Press Day

Bench Press
44lbs x 12
110lbs x 6
165lbs x 4
209lbs x 1
209lbs x 4(4 sets) PR

Lat Pulldown
120lbs x 12(3 sets)

Board Press(3 boards) last rep each set paused
209lbs x 4
242lbs x 4(2 sets) PR

Hammer curls
33lbs x 12(3 sets)

Barbell Curls
70lbs x 8
60lbs x 10
60lbs x 8

Comments:
-209lbs feels damn light on the Bench Press now which is awesome, this was pretty close to my max at the start of the year
-Will get new shirt on next week and see what I can touch, then probably 3 sets of 4 with 220lbs raw afterwards, then some 253lbs board presses
-Squats tomorrow, suit bottoms and maybe knee wraps on I think, 308lbs++ for 4x4

18/05/08 Sunday

Squat Day

Squat

---suit(31 inzer hardcore) on, straps down---

143lbs x 6
209lbs x 4
264lbs x 2
---knee wraps on---
308lbs x 6 PR
330lbs x 6 PR
341lbs x 6 PR

Rack Pulls above knees, short rom
341lbs x 1 double overhand
539lbs x 1 PR

GHR's
BW x 10(3 sets)

Comments:
-wow, knee wraps are powerful!
-308lbs was much easier than I thought it would be, so did 6 reps rather than 4, and then needed to increase the weight. Will be working with 360+ next week for sure, something heavy enough for 4's hah
-Short rom rack pulls are fun, I think I could probably have done 572. My grip is strong hehe, and I don't expect I'll ever have problems with it, as I can hold onto heaps more than I can pull from the floor
-GHR's felt good, usually I get cramps when I try them so I haven't been doing them, will start doing them regularly now
-My lower legs are sore from this,my left tibialis anterior is sore now just sitting here, and both that and my calves felt super pumped after each set with the knee wraps, moreso on the left leg.
-Bit of a back pump with the squats today. I don't expect I'll be sore tomorrow from this, just sore from using the equipment hah
-Picking up my Bench Shirt tomorrow woohoo!
