good luck learning how to spread the floor with your feet in oly shoes, never going to happen. your toes will be pointing down and weight more forward (why its easier to get depth for many with oly shoes).

oly shoes = more quad dominant squats in most cases. that fine if you do oly, but in the end your low back/hams/glutes can move waaay more weight. The only time ive ever heard of a PL using oly shoes is when they physically can't make depth, which actually.. is quite common i suppose.

I don't squat that super wide, does that make a difference?

Looks like I might stick with my chucks then...

goggins squats in oly shoes. He's got an 1100 squat, so it works for him.

I think it's all preference... Just like everything, nothing is in absolutes.

A few years ago, JP was going to use the forum for other gyms, too. He had a alternate url that redirected here. That stopped, and a lonely, dead mirror/development site is all that remains... sad for the people that go post there, sometimes, huh?

Why didn't he just delete it?

Or deactivate it at least, so people can't post there. Or put up some kind of warning, like, "Ghost Forum, Ye be warned". You know, or something.

I don't know. It seems like it must be costing him something, too. It might belong to the partner, though.

The funniest part was when (after about a month after the split) a bunch of new people joined THAT forum. They got their own little "experts" that joined up for a while, too. You could go over there and it was like a Twilight Zone episode, or that Seinfeld where Elaine meets those guys that are just like Jerry, George, and Kramer ("Sorry, we already have a George...").

I used the fitfriends.com link because my work didn't block it... But, at home, I used the normal url. Must have been weird for the people that only knew about fitfriends.com. "Where'd everyone go? How come there's no MMMM this morning? This must be how those people in Left Behind felt. Hey, where's Kirk Cameron?"

A week before the big split, JP made an announcement here on forums.jpfitness.com, but not there! haha!

BTW, there are a few notable members who fell into the black hole for about a week. Duh. One was gone for a month, came back to find the desolate, empty, and slow forum and PM'd me to find out why no one posts anymore and wasn't answering his (or was it a her) questions. Funny shit.

Thanks for all the references, Peter Griffin

haha

Have you gone over this story with someone before? It seems so thought out and well-remembered. Thanks for the info though.

By the way, good story telling. I totally want to ask who it was that PM'd you.

Looks like JP is just posting to tell the mods to ban spammers. I get spam from there, sometimes.

By the look of things, they (the experts/trainers over there) are sorta using the forum, but it hasn't taken off. He probably didn't make an announcement there because he doesn't want their clients/users to jump ship to here.

I noticed that they have a Simon over there, too... only he's weak.

I feel bad for the people over there now. Especially pogbin, but probably just because he owns the only post I read.

Someone go and help him out so I can stop feeling bad, but also so I don't have to go do it myself.

It seems like everyone who a)was here from the beginning, or b)went to the summit and is friends with JP is a mod.

It's all politics

15/04/08 Tuesday

Speed Bench Day

Speed Bench Press

44lbs x 12
110lbs x 6
121lbs x 3(8 sets)

CG Board Press(2 boards)

203.5lbs x 4(3 sets)

Tate Press
38.5lbs x 10
44lbs x 8(2 sets)

Hammer Curls
44lbs x 10
44lbs x 7(3 sets)

Comments:
-Nice session, but I think i prefer speed benching with bands, might go back to that next week
-Board presses went well again, technically a PR, but since this is my first training cycle doing boards, ever week has been a PR, so I'll start to write boards as PR's later
-Deads tomorrow, pulling 363lbs for 4x4
-I'm going to be Bench Pressing on Thursday this week, as there is a big PL meet on saturday and sunday where alot of the club is competing in, and most of the top lifters in the country will be competing at. So me, and everybody else will be at the meet on the weekend - I'll be spotting, loading, helping out the lifters with various things, and I'll get to watch some pretty big lifts!
