I didn't up the speed bench, I took the bands off and added more weight, I think its roughly the same, more tension at the bottom though.
Yeah I have used Creatine before, I'm pretty sure it did make a difference, but I can't be 100% sure. I know what it's supposed to do, and I think it does that quite well.

09/04/08 Wednesday
Deadlift Day
Deadlift
143lbs x 6
242lbs x 4
308lbs x 2
341lbs x 6(3 sets) PR
Speed Squats
143lbs x 3
176lbs x 3(8 sets)
Dumbbell Rows
90lbs x 10(3 sets) PR
Comments:
-Used the deadlift slippers today, good shit - just like barefoot deadlifting
-Pulls went well tonight, they felt heavier than before(because it is heavier), but not hard. This is the first time I have done more than one rep at this weight (I somehow got my pull to 440 without ever touching anything over 325)
-Next weeks pulls: 363lbs for 4x4
-I brought my nike frees to the gym today, as I was going to use the slippers for deadlifting I thought it would be good to use these for other stuff - but I forgot about speed squats...
-So big mistake, squatting in nike frees is fucking shithouse!
-PR on the DB rows too which is cool, but I have never really done DB rows much, so I should be able to pile on the weight a bit at first
-I also got the Whey today

2 more PR's! Very nice progression on the pulls. The DB rows don't surprise me based on how much you row with a barbell. You'll be throwing around the 100's in no time.

Thanks man, yeah hopefully I can transfer my strength from the barbell rows to the dumbbell rows nicely in the next few weeks.

Chucks! Although I might get a pair of squat shoes soon, apparently having a heel can help.
But the chucks feel so much more stable than the frees.

I was going to say that if you're used to squatting in chucks, why didn't you just squat in your little slippers? I can't because I need a heel, like you said.

What's great about a heel?

Because I left the slippers on the other side of the gym, and was too lazy to go and get them!

Something about the angle of your ankle while squatting makes it better with a heel, I'm not sure exactly why, but I'll ask more about this. I think it's like you're not going as deep when you have a bit of a heel.

it's easier to reach depth when you have a heel and your flexibility isn't there. Not many ppl PLing squat in shoes with a heel though. Goggins is the only one that comes to mind. The reason being (at least in my experience), that when you squat in oly shoes, you don't open the hips NEARLY as much as with chucks. This is mainly because of the narrower stance, where you take a wide stance w/ PLing. When you take a wide stance, and open the hips, you can reach depth easier.
When i squat in oly shoes, and i try to open the hips more than i should, it irritates the side of my leg because you're not supposed to press out on the sides of an oly shoe. The heels are there to put the weight on the heel, and the transference of power (or something like that).
All this said, i hate squatting or doing anything in nike frees except for my everyday walking around shoes. I went to Chad's, and tried pulling in nike frees (even though they're supposed to be like barefoot walking), and was falling forward because of the heel on them. He told me to take the shoes off and pull in socks, and it worked like a charm.
Good pulls!

I dont like squatting in chucks, everytime i do my form is all messed up (and its not a depth issue, i can easily make depth with barefeet and no barbell). Maybe i need more practice in them, i do like them for deadlifts (even sumo). But, I like my frees better for squats (and bench..).

Hmmmm, I think the frees aren't nearly stable enough compared to chucks.

Thanks Yeah the the only thing I use my frees for usually is walking around normally, first time I brought them to the gym - never again.
As I said I think squatting with a heel means you sorta don't have to squat as low, but I'll try to find out more.
I might get some of these:

i like the silver/red/black do wins, and also the white and red do wins.
They will most likely ship to aus, just e-mail glenn and ask. He's a pretty cool guy.
