and, howcome u post in "invisible" mode now(I think?), you're never online, but you still manage to post.
1. Do you have a choice on what you learn? Are you stuck in this IT program, or can you major in history, or math, or whatever?
2. I just felt like changing it. I'm really not online that much anymore--maybe I check the site 3 or 4 times a night.

It doesn't work here like (I think) it works in the US, you guys do like 4 years of general crap at college right? so you can get into some decent postgrad stuff? I pretty much had to pick a course that I could get into with the marks I got, and stick with it.
I'm glad I never went to uni
and what does a Info Systems person do??
Hah, I pretty much have to go to uni, to have a chance of getting any decent jobs.
Information Systems is pretty much IT, designing, building systems for organisations, maybe some consulting, you could do a few things. I'm not really sure exactly what I'd be doing when I graduate.
That sucks, man. So you're stuck working with computers for the rest of your life? What if you want to go into law or medicine or something like that?

You can learn specific stuff also, but you still have the option of doing general stuff like english or history than a)entering the workforce or b)going to more school to get a higher degree or a professional degree ie lawyer, dentist, ect.

Pfffft... my marks were soooo far off that, I couldn't do either of those two even if I wanted to.
I could possibly transfer into something next year, but that would have just wasted a year of my life(and I'd need high marks to transfer I think).
IT isn't that bad...
The good thing about America is that even if you fuck up high school and get really low grades, you can still go to college(not a great one though), bust ass there, and go to a decent law/medical/grad/business school.
That's tough, that your whole career path is decided for you when you're 18. Plenty of people still need years to mature/grow up.

I just didn't put anywhere neat the amount of time or effort into high school that was needed to get into alot of areas. I think I'm just plain lazy - If I don't enjoy it, I can't work hard at it, e.g. I work hard hitting the iron 4 times a week, and haven't missed one session since i started with the PLers. But with school/study, I'm not an idiot so I can pretty much pass without studying getting like 70% or so, but I just haven't been able to put in the extra effort yet, not sure If I will be this year either.

I was kind of like this too, for most of high school. The first two and half years, I just cruised along, and got mostly A's/high B's for it. I really started cultivating a work ethic about a year ago, when I entered the "oh shit, college is soon" mentality. It'll come to you eventually, I guess.

I hope so, haha.

Deadlift
143lbs x 6
242lbs x 4
341lbs x 2
440lbs x 1 22lb PR
308lbs x 6(4 sets)
Speed Squats
165lbs x 3(8 sets) - 4.6 secs per set
NG Seated Cable Rows
99lbs x 12(2 sets)
99lbs x 10(2sets)
Side Bends
65lbs x 10(2 sets)
Comments:
-Woohoo! 440lbs pull!! This one actually felt pretty heavy, went up without a pause and with decent speed for a max pull, but a fair bit slower than 418 for sure. 2.44xBW, pretty happy with that one
-This is the last of this run of PR's, I'm backing off next week(for squat and bench too), then I'll start the next more planned cycle light, and probably work up to new PR's in 10 weeks or so
-We timed speed squats today, timed about 3-4 sets for me and Tim, I got 4.6 seconds EVERY SET, and he got 4.3 seconds EVERY SET, which is good, meaning that we are actually going consistently as fast as we could, even though we were trying to improve the times
-Went light on the cable rows, did more reps, I'll go heavier on these next week

I'm hoping to have close to 500 at the end of my next cycle(I dunno, might do a 10-12 week cycle), if not the training cycle after that for sure, a few months either way though.
My new goal is to pull atleast 470lbs(raw) at the end of my next cycle(approx 10-12 weeks).
national 165lb sub-junior deadlift record is 452.1lbs. So If I get my raw pull to 470++, then I can lost the weight, put a suit and belt on and blow away 452.1lbs easy - I'll aim for 495@165 in a powerlifting meet with a suit and belt.
Once this year's last meet is done, my weight will come back up to 180lbs without even trying, and I can do 181's in 2009 as a Junior lifter(fuck!).
or you could just compete heavier. Take it from a former wrestler, sucking weight is stupid, specially at your age. You probly dont have much fat on you and 15 lbs is allot to lose. I used to suck alot of weight, there is just no point to it. To lose 15 lbs the right way will take you about 12 weeks. about another 12 to put the right weight back on.
thats 6 months you just took away from getting bigger/stronger. just my opinion. if you got your heart set on it then do it but cutting weight and PLing just seems like an oxymoron.
The thing is I've got a real good chance(I'm actually pretty damn confident) at getting multiple national records(deadlift probably, total probably, squat likely, bench possibly) in the 165lb sub junior class, and next year I will be too old for SJ's, so I'm gonna do it this year. The records were set in 1993 LOL, so if i set them they will likely be there for a long long long fucking time haha.
Also, I'd only really need to lose 12lbs, which I can do pretty easily, and just lose 3lbs of water weight for the meet. Last year when I layed off the weights for a few months, I dropped from 180+ to about 167, all I did was stop doing weights for a few months. It will take a few months out of getting bigger and stronger for sure, but I don't care, it's worth it to me, and I have an entire 5 years to compete in the junior class anyway, I'm in no rush. I'd be looking to compete in the 181's afterwards anyway, and maybe the 198s in a few years time if I feel like it.
if thats the case then best of luck. just watch yourself. Trying to maintain to high lift weight while dropping weight can lead to injury. Just be careful and crush the records.
My training partners/coach told me that when you cut weight your Bench seems to go down the most, the squat and deadlift not so much, which sounds good to me, as the Bench is the one where I don't think I'll get a record(313.5lbs@165).
I guess I've just gotta accept I'm not going to gain any strength when I cut, and will just have to lose a bit, I'm training with a good club, they place a real importance on safety, so I should be okay.
