Default Hook grip PR, yay!

Just a few weeks ago I was wincing with 225 and today I got 405 and it actually wasn't bad at all!

Awesome.

Are your thumbs always sore now? How long in total have you been working on the hook grip?

Now about 5-6 weeks. No soreness at all anymore, depending on the weight. I haven't pulled with a hook grip in a couple of weeks, so I'm due this Sunday to go for more than 405 with it.

Congrats.. you and me both. Switched to hook grip only a few weeks ago.. didn't even know it was called hook grip with the thumb underneath, but that's what happens when you use overhand grip, find the bb rolling and then desperately try to find something to prevent it from happening w/o ditching that grip., presto: hook grip!

Got to 13 reps yesterday for a wt I had formerly only done 8 reps for.. that is 12 hook & 1 mixed. The weird part: mixed grip didn't even make it feel all that much easier than hook grip.

How do you feel about using straps? People keep telling me I'm short-changing myself in not using straps, but there's not enough patience in me to try yet a 4th different strap.

I believe in using straps for sure. I like AST straps, so you may want to check there.
