I wonder if any lifters are going to be wearing pollution masks?

no no no! The IOC says the skies are blue and air crystal clear.
And reports are that all athletes are clean. I'd bet JP's house on it, because if there is anyone you can trust it's the IOC and Chinese regime.

I've been watching all the extra videos ... cool stuff. Although I'd love Manuel's breakdown of technique!!!
Well if theres anyone in particular you want to know about, call out the lifter.
The bitch about the silverlight streaming is that you cant download the video and my internet connection has been a total fag the last couple of days.
I will say, Chen Xiexia had some extremely smooth technique. Some of the stuff she does is particular to the Chinese team (i.e. looking down on the catch) and I wouldnt recommend unless you had someone to coach it. But she was damn good.

Incredible that her first lift was already heavier than any of the other women.
The Judo comp has been very good, and they have some cool extra footage of judo players too.

I cannot for the life of me figure out when to TiVo so that I get the OL. I'm pissed. I can watch it on my 15" computer screen; the 40" TV, meanwhile, is showing me the swimming and the gymnastics that recorded. WTF? The guide shows Beijing time... I know there's a tape delay for most.
I just got a season pass for the Olympics on my TiVo. It's recording the whole 5 or 8 hour stretch so I've had to fast forward to the weightlifting bits.
If you have a newer Tivo connected to your network you can browse the Olympics Guru guide by sport and get season passes to whatever you want. But like Otto said it will record full blocks, which can be 8 hours long so be prepared for lots of fast forwarding. Just make sure you have lots of hard drive space especially if you record anything in HD. It's amazing how fast 8 hour blocks of HD content can fill your hard drive.
I saw the men's 62kg this morning on MSNBC (i think). WR attempt in the C&J - damn close, but he won the gold anyway. Dominated.

First ever Norwegian female weightlifter to make it to the olympics is lifting tomorrow. I'm getting up early to watch. I think she got 3d place in the European Championship, but I don't know how she will hold up in the olympics.
so when are they going to be broadcast on tv? Because yesterday it said it would be broadcast on tv here at like 9pm-1am, but i couldn't find it on the 6 or so channels the olympics are aired on.

it's tricky to catch it on broadcast because they do so many sports
I think yesterday it listed the men's 56kg finals in the coverage on USA 08:30-11:00 (Pacific) and I just happened to catch it for like 30 mins around 10AM
Here is a list of all the weightlifting broadcasts according to the guide on Tivo.
They are all on MSNBC in EST. I listed the details when they were noted, but some of the descriptions just say "weightlifting". If they are wrong, blame Tivo, not me.
Thanks Paul. I hadn't realized most of them are on MSNBC.
For anyone else with a tivo... I had to submit a season pass request for each channel they were running on to get more than just the NBC airings. I did it on the website though, I don't know if it makes a difference if you do it with the remote.

Just saw the 58kg women's class. That was some siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick lifting. I love watching the lighter women's classes.
There were some chicks who sick efficiency (standing wide and not letting their feet move outward, and for some not even upward, this is something Im working on doing myself), then you have chicks who do crazy shit like the girl from Thailand who have one leg pointing forward and the other externally rotated and still manage to adjust under the bar.

Gr. My TiVo isn't getting any of the lifting... and when it does it gets preempted. I might have to cave and install the Silverlight plugin.
Do it, there are some fine hotties in these lighter classes
