Weightlifting shoes
So I've been told time and time again that chucks aren't good for weightlifting so I'm looking for a shoe with more of a heel, a weightlifting shoe.
I got some questions however. I understand that the heel makes it easier to get into a deep squat position when catching the bar. However, what if you don't have any mobility issues with getting down there (not saying I don't, just wondering)
I now do a program with quite a bit of cleans, snatches and front squats, which I guess I should use the weightlifting shoes for.
but what about the power versions where I don't need to go deep to catch, or just the pulls for that matter, like clean pulls, etc?
But what about back squats and RDLs? Should I put on my chucks for those?
I say weightlifting shoes for front squats since I will need to mimic how I squat to catch the clean as best as possible..
Thanks for any input!
God, finding a place that sells weightlifting shoes up here is gonna be hard.. it's such a small sport here

dude, you live in norway :p Next to sweden, home of ELEIKO :p I'm pretty sure you can find some store that sells oly shoes. I've got mine from Germany.

You have to speak german though Well, you don't really need to. I got mine ordered too and I don't speak german. But then again, I ordered mine without even knowing I did
About the shoes, If you plan on competing it's highly recommended you buy a pair. If not, you don't NEED them but it's still pretty nice to have them.

there's a great article over at dynamic eleiko about the importance of shoes with weightlifting. go read it, and it will explain why it's important.

well it doesn't matter what our neighboring country has, I'll still have to pay customs on anything I buy from there
And I visited the eleiko website and they didn't have shoes at the moment

I'm thinking about either Adidas ironworks 2 or adidas adiStar weightlifting. The ironworks is cheaper but I can afford them both. Is there a big difference between these shoes? Is one "better" like, more evolved, etc than the other or is it just a matter of personal preference?

Yeah well, that's what you get for not joining the european union I don't have to pay customs for import from Sweden even though I live like 2000km's further from it then you

I've got the ironworks II, good shoes, good price. If you're watching the European championships Weightlifting which is this week you'll see that a lot of lifters wear them.
Don't know why you would want to buy the more expensive ones if they're just for training.

reason we're not joining the EU is because we want our fish to ourselves :p
but yeah.. and if Norway lowered or removed their customs, no one in Norway would buy stuff from Norway anymore :p
Reason I'm thinking about the more expensive model is maybe they will last longer? I really don't want to have to be making another purchase anytime soon.

Most lifters at my clubs have either the Adistars, Ironworks, or some Polish ones. I have the Adistars, and they're great, but I haven't heard anything bad about the Ironworks, either.

I have the AdiStars too. They're great. The Ironworks II seem pretty comparable though.

I can't find them cheaper than 199. anyone know of anywhere they sell them a bit cheaper? See, 199 is just over the limit that makes me have to pay taxes for importing it from abroad (199 is at dynamic elko)
The site has to go with dollars, since the dollar value is low it beats anything else right now.

The Werksan site has a variety of less expensive options. I haven't seen the AdiStar's cheaper unless you buy them through the USAW website (must be a member).

I own a pair of Adidas Weightlifting shoes
One of the key things i notice when i don't wear the O-lifting shoes is my feet ache following the training sessions. The foot stomp seems to ache the foot when i am not wearing O-lifting shoes.
thanks,
Coach Hale

hmm.. since I started a program doing oly lifts more frequently I actually developed an inflammation in one of my toes (not the toe itself, but the part of the toe further up, covered by skin and stuff) so I guess that could be connected with not wearing proper shoes..
