The reasoning that He gives is that since you're going to failure 3 times on during a rest-pause set if you don't have a spotter there's a good chance you'll end up stuck under the bar. He also doesn't like flat bench for chest at all but I believe his reasoning for that one was He said it was bad for your shoulders. So realistically I think the only drawback is if you don't have a competent training partner to spot you on the lifts you might get stuck under.

yea, i mean a power rack would be just as fitting as a partner in terms of spotting. The only benefit a partner has is to push you to get the reps.

his reasoning for not using a flat bench was b/c he believes that is causes many more pec tears than incline benching. I think it's kind of valid. I never liked benching, probably b/c i suck at it, but i like incline benching a lot more. Of course, there are some that believe that certain "assistance" can cause an increase in pec tears too, but there's really no solid evidence to this, i don't think.

I agree with using the power rack but was his reasoning.

oh I missed the pec tear thing, I thought the though with said assistance was more increasing chances of tendon damage because the tendon can't adapt as quickly a the assisted muscle, which I buy that explaination. Then you could argue that incline bench decreases risk of tendon damage because you use less weight.
