Weight Class Issue
Right now, my weight is somewhere between 212 and 215lbs first thing in the AM. I am not all that lean, I could stand to loose 5-10lbs.
Here is my issue.
Weight classes im thinking about are up to 198lbs and up to 220lbs. If I cut a few lbs weight in the next few weeks, then drop some water weight I don't think ill have much problem weighing in at 198lbs. If I enter 198lbs weight class, I am pretty sure I can put together an elite total (1731lbs). If I enter 220lbs, im thinking my total would be higher, but not high enough to become 220lbs elite (1824lbs).
I really want to total elite, I thought that I was further off from these numbers then I actually am. Whats the consensus? Should I give it a shot?

Rip it up and be elite like Dimas. You could do UD2 if your training is flexible, otherwise just diet regularly.

i say go for elite. If you don't like being at that weight for the meet, i'd either get used to it (diet more slowly), or go up a weight class. See how close you get.

Could do UD2 or something similar, but i drop weight pretty quick anyway, lay off the high calorie foods would probably do it for me.

Its only my second meet so i feel i have plenty of time to improve my lifts and find the weight class that works best for me in the future.
Going to be a great meet, if all goes well ill get a GPC world record in the 90kg/JR division. Just need a few more lbs on my squat.

24 hour weigh in, so not much to worry about in terms of cutting weight.

Do you think you could do the crazy Kroc weight loss the day before / of the weigh in and get to 198? Then you could be almost all the way back when you compete.

I could, but for a first attempt at this, i think 10 or so lbs will be alright.
If i drop carbs ill be down 3-4lbs in around 36 hours from my experience (and this is with no performance loss).
Ill increase water and salt intake earlier in the week to really high levels of both.
Then, starting X hours before the meet ill have a few really freaking hot baths (with salts maybe), drive to parents house where i will be staying and check weight on their scale (and mine. and probably one other LOL). Sweat out anything that is left and then drive to the meet (30mins) and weight in.
should be fine for 10or so lbs. Probally will weigh in at like 190 or something stupid like that knowing me hah.

Well, if it's that easy for you then I think you should def. do 198 class.

just start slowly dieting now, so the cutting is that much more simple.
If you do it now, slowly, you shouldn't lose any strength, and should still be able to hit PRs. Or, just do what you're planning, and cut the few days before, and then replenish.
