Default Cool new book---LL Cool J's Platinum Workout

Hey Guys-

Thought you might be interested in this cool new book that just came out yesterday...LL Cool J's Platinum Workout Maybe I'm a bit biased, as I contributed the entire nutrition component of the book, but it's a fun read about someone who truly talks the talk and walks the walk. You'll see a ton of PR with this in early January.

That's awesome - Congrats, Chris!!! Now be sure to give a heads-up when you're working on a book w/some 1985-style headbangers and I'll definitely be the first one in line at the bookstore! [The mullet is long gone, but I'll be the guy wearing tapered stone-washed jeans ]

Rock on, bro!

Thanks, Joe! I'll be sure to approach Bret Michaels and Sebastion Bach with my next book ideas. Actually, we do have something else in the works...but it's top secret until it all comes to fruition (assuming it does). But it's not an 80's headbanger, sorry.

Mama said knock you out.

Thanks for the link. I remember seeing an article in Men's Fitness about LL Cool J a few years ago. I always wonder how much of these books and articles are what the guys actually use, and if it's the type of program they stick to or if they switch it up. Or if they don't really follow them at all like some bodybuilding articles. But LL's been sporting an envious physique for a while now so it'll be interesting to see what he has to say.

He works is a** off, regularly. I was with him in California and at midnight, after his concert, him and his trainer were hitting the gym because they hadn't had a chance to workout. He also eats pretty clean -- particularly when on tour or getting ready for a video.

When Flavor Flav gets jacked and comes out with a book then I'll buy it because THAT would be a transformation.:p

Seriously though if LL's bk gets someone interested in improving their health then it's all good.

Call it silly, but I think guys like LL, Will Smith and some other fitness-minded celebrities are helping to change the perspective on aging past 30.

Sounds like some jealous sniping by a rival to me. As Mohr said (having listened to the Maxout interview last night), the guy pays in the gym for what he has.

BTW, great interview, Mohr (or do you prefer Doctor? ). And that nutrition guide you let Berardi give away was great as well. I have printed many copies and given it to those who keep asking me what they should be eating. I lost 60 pounds over the last six months, basically doing what you describe in there, but they don't want to seem to hear it from me. Thanks for backing me up!

Like Kuri said, I suppose.

Maybe that's got to be my new year plan.

I prefer anything but doctor--you may have all heard that credentials are essentially...
BS: bullshit
MS: more shit
PhD: piled higher and deeper.

Glad you enjoyed the interview! By the way, do you mean the nutrition thing I did for Craig and Turbulence Training? John and I haven't done any projects together at this point...well, that's a lie, we did co-author a book chapter with Joey Antonio about 2 years ago that is apparently coming out in 2007. Wherever you saw it, nice to hear it's working for you.

Yes, it definitely was the TT nutrition guide, I thought I picked it up as part of Berardi's "Christmas Gifts", but it may have been the other promotion going called "the 12 days of Christmas" where they are linking to other giveaways. Kinda bad when I don't remember who is giving me free stuff!

I had already lost the weight by the time I saw it, but it covers what I had been doing, so I am now able to use that as a missionary tool for those who want help. Great work, very straightforward and covers all the bases in a way that my secretary can understand!

I guess anything's possible but I don't see why he'd need to do lipo unless it was as a quick fix. Several people have said LL works his ass off in the gym, and the guy's had a good amount of muscle mass for at least 10 years. The big thing he's done in recent years is drop his bodyfat from "fairly low" to "shredded". Maybe it's that appendix scar he has that sparked those rumors?

Man, it just occured to me that I know way too much about LL just by osmosis. One of my coworkers is in love with him. I'm thinking about buying her this book for Christmas. lol

Gobbla - I read an interview in a recent mag with him and he takes serious offense to the suggestion that he had lipo because he really does bust his ass. Not saying that he really didn't, but I kind of doubt it. Just my 2 cents.

yeah, I went surfing a little last night and seen the hupla. the accusations came out when it "was" a sudden change. right around the time his tv show ended and he started coming out with albums again. getting somewhere and maintaining it for a few years is great and very believable especially when you're rich and looking good IS a big part of your job.

there's no reason to believe that he doesn't have all the time\resources in the world to look however he wants to look. good on him. that was just a rumor\story I remembered from however long ago that was.
