Offers from our Fitness ExpertsAs the title states, we have a lot of experts who contribute here. Only JP-approved experts can create threads in here, so you can trust that if someone is making an offer in here (free or not) it's going to pass the muster.
Pat Rigsby here. I just wanted to let you know that I, along with dozens of other fitness professionals, have put together a package of gifts to express our gratitude to you during this Holiday Season. Among the contributors, you'll find Craig Ballantyne, Bill Hartman, Alwyn Cosgrove, Eric Cressey, Mike Robertson and many others. We've dubbed this array of free reports, free downloads and discounted products 'The 12 Days of Fitness.' I invite you to register at http://www.12daysoffitnessgifts.com so you can gain access to the gifts beginning on Monday, December 11th.

I look forward to becoming more of a contributor. I've been talking to JP about making myself available to answer 'business of fitness' questions.
Happy Holidays!

I think you guys are being rude. Not just in this thread, either.
You have no idea under what circumstances someone comes here to post. If it's obvious SPAM, it's one thing, go ahead and attack it. If there's some doubt, as there is here, why not report the post and see what happens.
Obviously, from other threads, Pat was invited here. No one knows what he was told to do or not to do. But, obviously, JP was involved.
Now, even if you don't know any of that, try to take a breath and think about how adults handle themselves.
If you have a problem with the way that people come here to present their products, then take it up with the owner of the store.
Obviously, you have an issue with Pat's relative lack of posts. What would a good number be? 25? 50? 100? How long does he have to wait, after being invited, to put something that advertises his wares in his signature? Nothing's cut and dry in this arena.
If you think it's worthy of discussion, then discuss it in general, in a thread with that purpose in mind. Don't do it by attacking an indiividual with obvious, snide, or underhanded comments.

Which is why I said what I said in the other thread. Not all of us read every thread, therefore, a little context would be nice.
And I do realize that if I would have put a nice exclamation point and smiley behind what I said, I would have sounded so pleasant! (see?) I didn't, so it looked bad. Oh well.

I dont know, When I first saw this I thought it was spam. I even opened the link to a (sorry) pretty sketchy looking website (looks like those infomercial websites or the ones you get in your email). Closed it up pretty quickly and went on with life.
Sorry pat, ive never heard of you which it seems like so many people here have. Maybe you should introduce yourself.
I got sent this in Mike Robertsons newsletter. Any site offering discounts on programs by Mike, Craig, Bill and others should be welcome to post in my opinion .
Roland I am going to respectfully disagree. I don't see how they are being rude. I can easily see how this can be construed as spam. Given our history with spammers I thought they were rather polite. While I understand that there is no set number of posts before you can be considered contributing and therefore "not spam", it's clearly not 6.
Leading with free gifts in the post it's easy to see where there could be a misunderstanding. Nothing is free.

Well, for what it's worth, I signed up right away and today got some pretty cool, free stuff.
As for being rude or not: Let's make it a policy to give the benefit of the doubt. If a post is obviously just SPAM, nail it. If it seems like it might be legit, simply ask politely for an explanation of who the person is. If that fails, then one of the mods will delete it.
No need to throw the switch while the jury is out!
I certainly understand the questioning of my motives. I don't expect any of you to know me...in hindsight it would have been better to have Craig or Bill make the post to clear up any confusion. I do look forward to contributing in the future.
Sorry for the misunderstanding,
Pat

Another option would have been to mention off the bat that JP has approved your promotion. That would have given you easy credibility from the get-go, as it now seems clear that your offer is legitimate and approved by the site's owner.

It's all good, Pat. There's still time for an introductory thread. I think the folks here would be more interested/open-minded if you let them know who you are, how you know JP, what you're offering, etc.
I remembered the name cause Craig mentioned him in a previous thread .
I couldn't get the TT workout cause my name was already on his mailing list
Cappy: Email him (again) and ask really nicely.
Pat: I knew who you are, more or less, since I've read of Fitness Riches from Alwyn's blog and some related emails I've gotten. I even ordered it, based on Alwyn's and Bill H's (I believe) encouragement. I trusted them, so I can hate them, not you, if I don't like it overall. LOL
I do share some of the cautions some of the others have mentioned. With so many new folks/members recently coming into the forum and offering and selling things, it's hard to ID the sheep from the goats. It really does help is we are told right off that a sheep is a sheep (and shepherd, or JP, approved). And, IMO, helps a lot if one contributes at least somewhat regularly, rather than just hock their wares. One is thus a contributor rather than solely a taker.
Are you intercepting and reading my emails? I must not have the same charm you do
I'd say to the average person, "Well, of course, that couldn't be expected." But, as I said at one point last year when we were commenting on pictures, you look just so cute (as a bug's ear?). Maybe send a pic of your beaming smile. If that doesn't get him, then he's an ogre. LOL
I have problems with some of the links, soo, stuff either not found on server or registration problems.
I know the links all work because I successfully downloaded all items yesterday ... perhaps it was just server congestion from everyone trying to get the items?
And I am already on Craig's list, yet I was able to access and download the file ... I agree, email him and let him know ...
Roland,
My post was in reference to the "free gifts" tag line. Maybe I should have worded it differently as there was no intent to be rude. We are starting to see more and more offers of this nature. My opinion is that JP will decide who posts promotions, etc. and that he will pull anything that is not appropriate.
With that said, while post count is not in any way an indicator of intent, reliability or value, I can understand a certain amount of skepticism when such offers are posted. Who would you be likely to trust when an offer of something free is being made? A person you have been introduced to or have known for a while? Or, someone that walks up to you on the street? It's only human nature.
Welcome, Pat.
