I read that story this a.m. and it is some amazing stuff. Thinking about the size of the Universe and the number of other galaxies out there...just incredible!

i've been so interested in outer space since i was a kid. stuff just completely amazes me. i always said that if i hit the lotto, i'd take the russians up on that offer that they'll send citzens up there for like $25 million. it'd be completely worth it.

I would go up there in a heartbeat. I couldn't think of anything more amazing than a trip to space.

I hear 'ya guys. I was a complete astronomy and cosmology buff when I was younger. I've got tons of books on the subjects at home.

I always wonder, when reading the theories on Mars, whether they are talking about H2O, or about some other sort of liquid 'water'. And why can't we land a probe on the Martian polar caps? Or have we already determined, through spectrum analysis, that the caps are indeed frozen H2O?

Anybody know?

They have made at least one attempt to land a probe on mars polar cap. The polar lander crashed on the surface of mars.

I follow the developements with the space program almost on a daily basis. I know it gets a lot of bad press for failures, but people need to keep in mind that the things Nasa is doing have never been done before. Every time we loose a probe we learn from it. Just like the link that is provided mentions the discoverys of the mars rover program. Nasa was able to land to rovers on mars weeks apart from each other. They were able to do this because of the leasons learned from past failed missions. Of course there is no positive when we lose people except making manned flight safer.

Cassni is sceduled to make it's closes pass by Titan this month. Titan is Saturns planet sized moon that has an atmosphere and a possible ocean of methane.

YOu all should check out space.com
I am glad to see the interest in space.
