I've been really getting into reading Non-fiction adventure lately. But am running out of ideas for good options...thought I'd share those books that I found to be real page turners and see if anyone else here has a title or 2 for me to look for.

1. The Perfect Mile (about the 3 men who were working towards breaking the landmark 4 minute mile) It's a great read!

2. Ultra Marathon Man (about Dean Karnazes) This guy is freakin crazy...I couldn't put this book down.

3. The Other Side of Everest - A well written book regarding a team climbing and filming their trek to the peak of Mt Everest. Amazing story.

4. Shadow Divers - 2 guys obsession with identifying an unknown sunken WWII U boat.

I'll leave it at that. Anybody got any suggestions for great reading?

Yes, Kaiser. Krakauer's books are freaking incredible. Read those.

You know, I was going to say Krakauer's books too. I loved Into the Wild.

Ah....my favorite!

I'm currently reading "River of Doubt" about Teddy Roosevelt's expedition down an uncharted river in the Amazon. This he did as an ex-president. Heroics and personal moral strength we haven't seen in our leaders in a long time.

I recently read "True North" about Cook, Perry and the race for the North Pole. Cook is a new hero of mine.

I've read all of Krakauer's books except for his new one about Mormons. Another good Everest story is by Gordon Kroop called "Ultimate High" about cycling from Norway to Everest, climbing it solo and then cycling back to Norway. He figured that if you were going to say you climbed Everest you should be able to say you started at the lowest part possible. Of course he also took the long way.

One last one that is an all time favorite. "Into the Void" by Joe Simpson. If you haven't read it yet, read it.

Reading Into the Wild for a comp lit class last year was really eerie, because I go to the same university that whats-his-face went to! I'm even in one of the same clubs I think.

"Under the Banner of Heaven" was a good read, I enjoyed it.

This past summer I read Ninety Degrees North, about the rush to explore the arctic. Very good read, I read it twice and it's one of those books that I'll pickup and read chapters from when the urge hits. "Barrow's Boys" is good, too. (Fergus Fleming)

If you want to read some cool books open a cover to one of the old Penguin reprints and read the books they list. "Sailing around the world alone" (Slocum) is classic.
