Late last year
I brought you the Raid world championships and some great photos and stories from the race across the rugged New Zealand country-side. Well here is a taste of what is to come this year. Check it out if you dare:
The season 2006 will comprise 3 stages of X-adventure The Raid World Cup disputed on 3 different continents, before a grand finale on the North-American continent.
At the beginning of March, the raiders will, for the third year running, find themselves in the state of Western Australia, to contest the opening stage in Margaret River Region.
Three months later they’re off to Idaho, in the area around Tamarack, an untamed land that gave birth to enthralling Native American legends. Rugged mountains, splendid lakes, deep forests, and the most challenging rivers in the United States await the competitors.
Its back to the Old World in July, for a course linking Bourg-Saint-Maurice/Les Arcs to Aix-the-Bains. From the Tarentaise region to the Le Bourget Lake - the largest natural lake in France – a long and arduous adventure across the Beaufortain and Bauges ranges awaits the 70 teams.
At the end of these three stages, the top 40 teams of each of the world’s zones will earn the right to take the “starter’s gun” at the 3rd edition of The Raid World Championship to be held for the first time on the North-American continent. Québec/Saquenay will play host to the world’s best raiders as they discover the region’s famous boreal forests, gigantic lakes, rivers and fjords running with wolves, bears and white whales that give this pristine Canadian wilderness such a well deserved reputation as one of the “Greatest Outdoors”.
