While this won't fix America's obesity problem, it's great to see companies stepping up and changing to healthier alternatives. Even if they are doing it to increase sales.

I saw this on the news today, and I like the idea behind it. Of course, making Trix out of whole grains doesn't take out the sugar, even if it does add a bit of fiber. So I can't imagine that it's really going to benefit anyone. But at least it seems to be a step in the right direction, even if they're really only doing it because they think it's a good marketing idea.

Lou and I have talked many times about how we wish that fast food restaurants would offer whole grain buns. That's something that makes a lot of sense to me, although it probably creates a whole host of problems for the fast food establishments themselves--so it may not happen anytime soon.

I guess the best thing about General Mills move to whole grains is that it will allow other companies to gauge if there's a strong enough market for this type of thing. Hopefully, there is.

Carl's Jr has whole grain buns for their chicken sandwiches. You can ask for it on any regular size burger, as well. At least my local Carl's Jr. will do the substitution.

McDonald's uses a whole wheat bun for their Grilled Chicken and McVeggie Burgers. I've never tried to get them to use it on a regular burger, since I don't really like their burgers (other than the Big Mac, which I love but may never eat again (It's been one year and three months since my last one)).
