Yesterday I finally got my first snowboarding injury. I've gotten plenty of boo-boo's, but no actualy injuries. I was trying to ride an S-shaped rail, and I went straight where I should have curved (don't actually remember this, going off what my friends told me), flew up in the air and hit my thighs on the rail and my head on the ground. I was repeating myself every minute or so, and don't really remember anything until I had been in the medical center for about an hour or so. It ended up I had sustained a grade 2 concussion, and I had to stay there until I started forming new memories which took about two and a half more hours. It was all good though because my nurse was really hot. In fact next time I go to Keystone I think I'm going to try to break my wrist or something in hopes of getting her again.
Anyone else have any good boarding injury stories?
It's not really a cool one, but I sprained my knee skiing by going off a jump. I landed the jump, but my right knee was locked and got bent weird as I landed. I got some nice air for that size jump, but just landed funny. yea, that was back when I was about 12 and I wasn't worried about hurting myself skiing and screwing up baseball. I'm getting over that now, but unfortunately the place I go to, the best in the area, is always packed. Not too busy to not go, but busy enough to have to stay at a slower speed.

Rails are killers - you gotta be absolutely centered.
Plenty of good stories since I've been riding for more than 15 yrs. Back when I was learning backflips off a kicker, collisions with clueless skiers, clueless trees clueless rocks
You name it. Still not even close to skating injuries though.
Ya, I'm fine on the straight and arched ones, just haven't quite got the curved ones down. I usually get pissed off by at least one clueless skier every time I go. If you are going to weave back and forth and take up the entire run at least keep a steady pattern so I can avoid you. Although the last collision I had was with a snowboarder who did that.
Backflips are still way beyond me, the best tricks I can do are grabs like methods. This is the first year I've actually lived somewhere where I can go consistently, usually my family would go for 3 days or so for vacation since I was about 12, so I guess I have about 20-25 days total experience atm. I'm hoping I'll be able to do spins by the end of this season. I'm finally about to where I was after a 1.5 year layoff.
I sprained my wrist a week or two ago. Just started doing jump's two weeks ago. I had hit a few small ones no problem. I attempted to go off a medium size jump pretty slow - landed it no problem. The second time, i came at it too fast, ended up a lot higher than i had anticipated, and psyched myself out mid air. I came down hard on my wrist, but fortunately only sprained it.
And yea, i'm gonna buy a helmet soon too.

Hah I have the same complaint about boarders. Where I go, its the skiiers who keep the consistent line, weaving back and forth but not across the entire trail-just within about 10 feet if you understand what i'm saying. I also hate when the snowboarders all sit down in the middle of the trail to get into their bindings and they're all in a line so you can't get through them. I talk to my friends that snowboard and they all find that ridiculous as well. I'll admit that I like to carve the trail as much as i can, but i know when to keep to an area so I don't get in the way. If only everyone was as smart as us RLP

Haha yeah. Here there isn't too much of a problem with boarders sitting in the middle of the trail off the lift to strap in, people usually get to the side. Luckily crowds haven't been a problem when I have been so far since the mountains are a lot bigger here, and everywhere I have gone has been over 90% open or close when I have been there other than the 2nd week of the season when Breck only had 3 runs open. Usually yelling "Left" or "Right" will get people out of the way, or if they don't hear you the first time "Left, Left, LEFT, FUCK WATCH OUT!" usually works.
