Do you know where I can find a decent laptop for a fairly cheap price? I know this might be tough but I am trying to spend around $300-$400 or less...preferably less..haha. I really don't need it to do a whole lot, but I don't want one that's ancient either. I have a Dell desktop and I would actually prefer a different manufacturer..just not all that impressed with Dell. Any ideas?

www.tigerdirect.com - Symantec. They are fairly cheap as laptops are concerned. I think they're a bit heavy, haven't really seen any reviews, but I know they're fairly cheaper.

You also may be able to get an older model of an IBM Thinkpad or something as well. I had the THinkpad T40 and it was nice. Anyway, I hope you find what your looking for.

PS. Hope your feeling better. Best wishes, Keith.

By the way, TigerDirect also sells REfurbished laptops, which may be just as cheap as the symantec laptops.

You can hit the Dell outlet and get new ones for 481 or so. I think Gateway has some also. Google around for the brand you settle on; I just received a bunch of Gateway laptops for work and out of the 4 I've opened 2 were DOA and the other 2 have a problem working with the docking stations. Techbargains.com is a good place to look; folks post deals they see. I think HP had a sub 400.00 laptop out for the holidays.

The downside to the supercheap stuff is what they include or don't include. Check the warranty; I saw a sub 400.00 laptop recently that had a 90 day warranty.

On route 30 between Hanover and Gettysburg on the right as you head to Gettysburg there is a small computer repair shop. The guy refurbishes computers and may have something you would like.

Acer used to have a nice little one that was on at Staples, you may also want to check them out...
