she died last Monday but I just found out today because I was on summercamp (and I have to go back tomorrow). anyway, she had hart problems and she couldn't get up anymore, it was probably for the best but still...
Sorry for your loss as well. Lost both of mine last year, one had to be put down and the other had some unknown problem. Both were under 10 yrs. It sucks, but it'll get better. Good luck....

I know it will get better. but she was my friend for 10 years, one that I almost saw every single day in my life. I practically grew up with her
I just can't believe that she's gone
You said you were wanting a tattoo but didn't know what to get. Why not immortalize your dog? Get a small portrait of him/her on your shoulder/arm wherever.
Just an idea, it's something I will probably do when my pooch passes.

Very true. Sorry to hear of your loss. Not to hijack a somber thread, but is it worse if they're still alive? I've been having the hardest time lately for some reason. For those of you who don't know, I gave away my dog Rio several months ago. I was living in a small place, and even though he was very happy with me, I knew he needed more space and the freedom to run. I gave him to a family with two kids and forty acres, and from what I hear, they're happy and he's happy, which is all I wanted for him. However, I keep getting these searing bouts of loneliness lately...
It IS amazing what they mean to us, especially in retrospect...

Sorry to hear about your dog. I had a great dog that I had to put down three years ago. I still tear up thinking about it. It took almost a year 'till I was ready, but I adopted a great dog who looks a lot like the original. When your ready find a dog which needs your love.

It does take awhile to get over the heartache. But it's also hard to see your pet go through quality of life issues - so at least he/she isn't experiencing any pain now.

Pets certainly add a lot to our lives. I still see photos of my dogs and miss them. My condolences on your loss.

Sorry for the loss Igunick. Very hard part of life. Went through it last labor 9/6/2004 and it was the hardest day of my life. He died in my hands while I was giving him CPR. For the first 3-4 months, when I thought of him, I would cry or tear up. Time was the only thing that helped. I kept thinking about the great life I gave him and all the outings and hikes we had done. If only our lives were so great! While you are sad now, those thoughts will turn to happiness...
You gave that dog the best gift one could ask for....An owner that cares and loves them. That's all they want in life.
Hope all gets better soon. It only hurts because of the love you both had and that my friend is priceless.
Just wanted to say I'm sorry too, Ig. I've had dogs all my life and I know how attached you can get to them. They are truly part of your family. I know it hurts now, but that will go away in time and the good memories will live on. Take it easy, bud.

Man, sorry for your loss. I definitely know the pain of losing a dog, it's like losing a member of the family. I'll pass along some of the best advice my dad ever gave me, though. Don't try to bottle any emotions up when you lose a loved one. The pain may seem almost unbearable at times, but it'll get easier over time, and after a while, you'll be able to look back on all your good times together and smile. I've still got a soft spot for every animal I've lost, but it's bearable, and reminds me to live each day to its fullest. Take care, man.
