Kuri and all other music people..
Has anyone listened to Matt Sharp's solo stuff? He was a founding member of Weezer but left and just released an acoustic album.
As a lover of acoustic music, I am addicted to this album. 'Goodbye West Coast' is in my head all day..check it out Chris!
I hope I'm not too late on this...I seem to have caught onto the Wilco/ Billy Bragg - Mermaid Avenue Album a full year after everyone else...
Cool, I'll check it out. 'Fraid I don't keep up with acoustic music as much as I should.
Speaking of, jazz vocalist Lizz Wright's latest "Dreaming Wide Awake" is currently blowing my mind. hear lizz wright
As is Kelly Joe Phelps acoustic blues solo record "Tap the red cane whirlwind".
Pure magic. Kelly Joe Phelps
Eric, have you heard Elliot Smith? You might like his "from a basement on a hill".

No speakers at work Kuri, but I'll check out your links when I get home.
I know the two Elliot Smith songs from Good Will Hunting..but thats it. I'll see what offering Napster has since I pay their 10 dollar monthly membership fee for unlimited music.
Anything else I should check out? I'm always looking to expand my tastes...
Seeing as you like singer-songwriters/folk I might also suggest Kathleen Edwards. She's getting alot of attention. I have her debut "Failer" which is quite good.
Jon Brion is always great. You can probably find his stuff on Napster. Anything from his CD "Meaningless" is great. His soundtrack work (Eternal Sunshine of the Apotless Mind) is cool too, but different.
The Asylum Street Spankers from Austin are perennial faves. Their live shows can't be beat. Asylum Street Spankers A mix of Americana/acoustic swing/jazz. Theres some MP3s on their site in the download section.
Anyone who can pull off a song called 'Scrotum' is tops in my book

i'd check out some earlier elliott smith stuff too -- he was dead before "basement" came out, so it's not really a proper e.s. record in my eyes (still great though).
ever check out the last nick drake album ("pink moon")?
speaking of wilco, my friend's brother plays in that band... can't believe he now is the proud owner of a grammy i used to jam w/ him once in a while.

Cool. Wilco did well with their last record - at least among musicians it's highly thought of.
I haven't heard Drake's last - another to put on the list. He's a great songwriter & lyricist.
I just bought tickets to see Lizz Wright in a coupla weeks. She's one of the strongest vocalists I've heard in some time. Jesse Harris (who wrote that big hit for Norah Jones) & Bill Frisell among others plays on her latest.
