Unhappy

I've tried everything but it just won't work :*(
CDs I burn on my PC just refuse to play on any normal cd player ?@#%?@#
I've tried burning an audio cd with nero - dragging the mp3 files to the song list.
It shows some progress bar which probably means it's converting it to wav, then adds it to the list. I burn it and everything goes smooth, doesn't work.
I figured it was something with the conversion. Downloaded a proggie to convert mp3 into WAV and dragged the WAV files to a song list, burned, nothing.
Tried burning at x1 speed, maybe something gets fucked up during the burn. NOTHING.
TRIED BURNING WITH WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER. NOTHING >#@"%$?@#"%?@#
What am I doing wrong here?
I should probably mention that the cds play work fine if I try playing them on a computer... :/
HELP

It's the type of CD you are using. Someone may be able to answer to the reason of "why" quicker than I can. I know there is a reason, I just have to find it.

Edit: or maybe I'm wrong about it being the CD...lol. But I know this problem does happen, I'm just trying to remember why.

Put the disc in the computer and pull up the contents. Does it say it's a wav file or mp3? Also, are you finalizing the cd? Windows media and nero should do that for you but it may be off. That's all I've got without actually sitting at your computer.

Found it! Are you using CD-R or CD-RW's? CD-RW will not work in all players.

ODB - the files are .cda, just like any other audio cd. NOT finalizing is not even an option because the checkboxes are disabled in the burning menu for an audio cd (though that checkbox isn't marked in it's disabeld status, I tried adding files to the cd and it told me it was finalized)

TG - I'm using a Maxell CD-R. I also heard of a problem with Aiwa players not liking burned cds but I've tried it on a Kenwood player in my car and a Sony portable cd player too so...
I'm also pretty sure I've seen people listening to music on Maxell cds on their players.

argh, thanks for the effort though :<

When my computer acts up like that, I take it out back and beat the hell out of it.

It's getting expensive though.

WMP needs a certain codec to properly convert files for burning. It's available (for a price) from Microsoft, though I'm sure a crack is out there somewhere. Not that I would know anything about that...

I didn't convert to wav using media player, I did it with an outside program. And besides, I didn't burn the WAVS directly on the cd, I did it using nero which is supposed to convert them to the format cd players can read by itself ;[

Maybe its something wrong with your cd burner.

I have a friend that'll copy my cds for himself and I would copy off of the exact same cd with my computer and his cd would always turn out real quiet. Dont know why, but it was only when he copied cds on a certain computer it would happen. And we both always used WMP.

CD's burned for an audio player need to be in the CDA format, which you have, but it also has to be formatted correctly. Your audio component will look to a particular sector of the disc for information such as how many tracks, where to start, etc. A computer will look in a different location. So it sounds like you are only half-way there.

If you don't have an explicit option to create an audio CD search around in SourceForge, Download.com or FreshMeat to find an open source or freeware burner that will do that for you.
