Have you recently switched to a different laundry detergeant? If so, it could be an allergic reaction to something in the detergeant. Try switching to one without dyes or colors (like Cheer Free) and see if that helps.

Good suggestion, Logan! All Free & Clear is also a good choice.

My son was allergic to "cold" for about 6 months when he was 14.. he'd swell up about 1/2" and be all red where his skin got cold.. like the swimming pool water, or winter air

I experienced something similar on my stomach and chest a few years back. Turns out it was the fabric softener that was irritating my skin. Once I switched, all was calm.

You might want to check the amount of detergent you use too. The amount recommended on the packaging is usually way too much and it can be a skin irritant in that quantity. I had problems as a child, but once the quantity was reduced, I was fine.

the amount on the package is too much?? holy jeez. cause for a little load it says half a cap and i put in a whole cap (i don't usually do my own laundry so when i do i want to make sure it's clean). i didn't know that!
There was a kid a couple of grades below me in high school who was allergic to his own sweat. If he didn't take his medicine he would break out in hives really bad if he got sweaty, which was pretty often since he was one of our top track athletes and one of the top powerlifters. It would suck if that was the reason.
well i've been feeling like a big piece of shit lately because i havent been able to work out in about 3 weeks and my goal of brawniness is slipping further away. ive lost about 5 pounds since i stopped working out and i fear its mostly been muscle mass and not fat because my diet has also been falling short and my gut is still about the same.
UPdate: the antihistemines perscibed by the first doc didnt do a damn thing for me
so i went back about a week and a half later and saw a skin specialist. i explained my situation and she (after looking somewhat baffled at my statement that excercise enduces the spots and itch) called another doctor in to observe my skin as i did some pushups to cause the redness and itchyness to appear.
he somewhat looked a little baffled too and suggested to the skin specialist to perscribe me
Zantac- reduces the amount of acid in your stomach. it is used to treat and prevent ulcers, to treat gastroesophageal reflux disorder, and to treat conditions associated with excessive acid secretion.
Zyrtex - antihistemine (for hives)
ive made an appointment with an allergy specialist (1 month from now) incase these medications dont work either.
my mom is currently rewashing all of my clothes with the suggested "all free and clear" detergent and i told her to not use any kind of fabric softener.
hopefully with this change of detergent and/or medications my situation will improve and i will be able to continue my long and hard journey to brawniness.
PS this extended amount of time away from weightlifting has made me realize how much i love it and how hard it is to be away from it.
oh and since i havent been able to hit the gym in a while, all you guys should try and pick up my slack by pushing yourselves just that much harder and resist those oh so tempting foods that are contrary to our goals.
Hope the new meds work for you. Even if they do work however, I would keep the appointment with the allergist. They can help you find a long term solution so you're not just taking these meds forever. Good luck.
