Am I the only one who finds it distateful that the jurors are being treated like celebrities? Since when is sentencing a person to die a reason to go on nationwide television?
It's sickening. But didn't the OJ jurors get this same treatment too? Thankfully we can remember none of their names, although I do remember Judge Ito, Kato Kaelin, Johnny Cochran and Marcia Brown. And I was only 10 when it took place.

Very true my friend. The sad part is Mothers/Wives are killed the same way each year and get no coverage, but when a rich family is involved...Hold the Press!
I do think he did commit the crimes though and should get punished for his crimes. I can't imagine what Laci's family has gone through...

I beleive he committed the crimes. I'm not a fanof the death penalty. But, I just think it's a sad and sisgusting commentary that these people feel compelled(?) to discuss the verdict and why they made it before the national media circus...
I was surprised that he got the death penalty. For as long as it took the jury to come to a decision in the first place, it's surprising that they chose the ultimate penalty for him. I'd have bet he'd get two counts of life in prison, but not the death penalty.
Of course, thanks to our wonderful justice system, a death penalty means he'll be a leach on our economy for the next 15 years, at least.
I was suprised by the decision as well. Don't know why, but I just expected the folks of California would favor life vs the death penalty.
If I were one of the jurors, I would absolutely avoid any public discussion of the verdict. It's really nobody's business outside those 12...I mean 15 people. But, I guess if that's going to be your 15 minutes of fame in your life, you gotta go for it.

I don't agree w/ the death penalty at all.. People forget that jail is not realy just "punishment". It is more of a system of removing problems from society for an extended amount of time. If it were just a punishment, it would have multiple penalties, including financial, social work, and a relatively shorter sentences. It would be designed to make people feel terrible for what they had done. (of course the current system is perfect for the unfeeling sociopath, just get rid of them by locking them up) You could even argue that our current jail system hardens people into a sociopathic mold. You come in a common crook, you get out with a sense that more people find what you did and plan on doing again was aceptable and the right thing to do. Socializing with other criminals is probably the worst thing we can do to people we are going to later let out of jail.
I was more surprised by the jurors coments than anything. I am sure what I heard was filtered, but they were saying things about aperance in the courtroom. Evidence? I thought we convicted people based on evidence. Were they trying to determin if he was a sociopath?
