I guess I should just ask the gym, but I'm kinda shy . The belts you use for adding weight to dips/pullups, I guess first what are they called, and would a gym normally have them or do I need to buy one myself? I'm finally getting to the stage I definately need to add weight to dips, and Im getting close to needing to add weight to pullups and I cant see anything around that looks like it will do (there is a length of chain with a clip on one end right at the dip station, but f' me if I can workout how it could be used...
I've also heard that there are weight belts/dip belts. You know, that serve as a standard lifting belt and a dip belt.
My gym doesn't have anything like a dip belt, so, until I get my own, I hold a dumbell with my feet. It's not perfect. With more than 40 or so lbs, the weight tends to hold you pretty upright, making it hard to do dips other than the upright ones. Lighter weights were still pretty doable, though.
I've thought about the backpack option, I guess I'm just worried someone will come up and ask my why I'm putting their weights in my bag .
I guess I'll just go buy one, given I'm moving up in the weights now and look like I know what I'm doing people will just think "wow, he's cool!"...or something like that .
I'll probably buy a real dipping belt eventually, but for now I improvise: I cinch my weight belt real tight, tie the handles of my leather jump rope together, run the rope through the middle of hte plate, and tie it on to the belt. Makes my lower back hurt like hell with more than 40 pounds or so, but oh well.
