Hi everyone
I have been looking for free faux fonts. I have a few projects coming up and would like to use fonts. Normally I use word or even MS paint and would love to get more fonts in there. I tried downloading a few, but they were all in .ttf & My comp can't read .ttf What can i do?

What kind of OS do you have that you have WORD and MS Paint, but can't read true type fonts.

Win 98, never updated had troubles with .ttf files. I might be mistaken and it was win95 that couldn't. I thought I would clear that up before giving instructions on how to add them since it doesn't seem possible that an xp or even me machine would not take a ttf file. In every case, when someone was unable to add font files, it was not knowing how.
nah win95 could do it, although I did have a version that didn't have the ability. I have seen versions that could. Although that is like 10 years ago now so who knows? I could be on crack
Still good to determine the OS in question

Would it be better to have said, "Hey, are you stupid. Adding true type fonts is easy and your computer should be able to do it?" I would rather start at the basics and make sure there isn't a problem and then write out directions on how to do it.
Here are some instructions, unless Ogedei wants to tell us how even though he hasn't yet done so...
How to download the fonts:
Right click the font file you want to download and and select "save target as".
A dialog box should open that says something like:
"You have chosen to download a file from this location "
Select "save file to disk", and click OK.
Browse through your hard drive and choose where to save the font; a temporary folder or your desktop is a good place. Now you need to install the font, so you can use it.
Go to Start Menu, select Control Panel, then select Fonts, then click File in the top left of the window. You'll get a drop down menu.
Select Install New Font.
In the window that comes up, browse your hard drive and find the font.
Select it and click OK.
You may need to restart your computer for the fonts to become available but probably not.
If you are looking for a true faux font, like Adobe's, I can't help you. That is over my head.
It's been awhile since I used True type fonts. If I remember correctly they are from Adobe, and there is a TTF font installer program that I got from them. I don't think it was shareware then, I think we actually bought a font collection. My wife and I owned a videography company and needed the addtional fonts for commercial work.

Hmmm, I seem to have inadvertently offended in this thread, which was not my intention.
But either way I just wanted to apologize for being an unhelpful dick.
