I finally reached my goal of getting rim Got my first feel of the iron on Tuesday before my game but I wanted to confirm. So, i tried again today and was able to touch it! i set this goal at the beginning of the basketball season. My friend who plays on another high school team and i challenged each other to see who could get rim first. I guess I win!
now, on to my other strenth/sports related goals:
bench 150 (bodyweight)+
squat 200+
deadlift 200+
unfortunately, i will be unable to work on these for a lil bit, as i pull my hamstring (minor pull)-just overstretched it today getting ready for baseball, then tweaked it again during my bball game. However, i'm prayin for a speedy recovery so i can get back on track
can't believe that this time last year, i was 4+ inches away from getting rim and now i'm there
anyway...thanks for listening, if u did so choose to

Thats awesome bro. I'm 1-2" taller than you and used to be able to get about 7-8 inches above rim (couldnt quite fold my hand over it). I'm now about 5" off touching it and need to work back up to it and know how hard it can be to need to actually work on it instead of just being able to do it.
yea i hadn't really tried going for it all season until Tuesday. I was feeling pumped so i went for it and on my third try was able to get the top of the rim with the first bend of my fingers-like the part of the finger from the 1st joint to the fignertip. Now on to grabbing it and then waiting for my hands to grow so i can palm the ball so i can slam it home ...not in a game tho-that's an immediate benching

how is the doug saga going? has he mellowed out?
takes a friend to yelling at you to shape up..isn't that the new sig line?
and hey..where was that girl in the triangle..britt??
I noticed something very interesting last week. I've been deep squatting/deadlifting for a year and a half. My vertical didn't seem any higher suprisingly and actually an inch lower or so. But, after 4 weeks of rec league basketball, my vertical is about 5" higher than it was before I started playing again. Turns out my lack of playing had hurt my jumping (reactive ability, I'm guessing). Now with both combined, I can 2-handed dunk fairly easily (I'm 6'5", so that helps).

Jimbo: i did basically just what kmfisher did-just played basketball. it's been almost 3 months now and we've done a LOT of conditioning and jumping drills: tons and tons of lateral jumps, both two footed and 1 footed; lateral jumps, but not from side to side, rather back and forth-both 1 and 2 footed sets; just jumping up and down and up and down until coach tells us to stop. oh yeah, and LOTS of sprints and suicides. my legs have gotten stronger, i've lost body fat, and obviously-my vertical jump has increased.
