This is cracking me up! I think you guys will enjoy this one!

Most of you guys know me, and I'm not a young buck trying to outlift anyone I meet. I'm (at best) a guy days away from turning 54, a father and grandfather trying to stay in shape, gain a little strength and get back to where I was before I got sick in August.
Not exactly a threat to anyone.

So, I'm talking a one of our warehouse guys and he challenges me to a bench press contest! WTF?
The guys only 42, about 6'2" (2" taller than me) and we both weigh about 175. Turns out I benched BW before he did so he's a little jealous and challneges me to see who can get to 200 lbs first. (of course, this is happening with a lot of egging on from the graphic arts guy!).
We've got about a 6 week time frame, basically whoevere gets there first.

At this point hes matching me on reps but I'm 10 lbs up on him. Here I am at 54, being challenged to a bench press contest. Who would have ever thought?? LOL

I gotta tell you, I'm a little pumped at being thought of a fit enough to be challenged. Or maybe he figured if he challenged me he's be sure to win!

Either way....
THE GUY'S GOING DOWN!!

I figured you guys would like to know!
Alan

6 weeks huh...

I would start the Smolov Squat progam ASAP and use it for benching, and follow up with pin presses to adapt your body fast to heavy weights. Maybe do pin or rack presses with 225 having the bar stop 4 inches prior to reaching your chest.

http://www.joeskopec.com/smolov.html

Here is the link above.

If you are pressing 175 now, eat like there is no tomorrow (clean), follow a good Bench program and you should be there in 2-4 weeks. Plus I am sure you could play with your form a bit and gain 10-5lbs instantly...

WHEW! I read that as "I've been changed" and I thought you'd gone back for another operation!

That is pretty odd. Sounds like kid stuff but oh well. Best of luck!

Even if you lose, you can win a real cock-measuring contest. Just whip it out, right there in the gym .

Poor guy doesn't realise who he is challenging Alan. Go easy on him. Let him keep a very small amount of his pride. Just kick his ass by, say 20 or 30 pounds.

For you alan, this is just a walk in the park!

It would be funny if the guy is on roids and slams 315 up after 6 weeks...

you might want to make sure the guy is clean. Someone who challanges others to a bench contest, is the same guy who would take roids without thinking about it.
