My first computer was an Epson QX-10, with a unique Valdocs OS. Long before the Internet came along for common us, I switched to a Mac. I must have had in succession 10 or 12 and now have two iMacs and an iBook. Both my sons are Mac guys, and one of them has a graphic design studio--totally Mac.
But my total set up is irrational. My wife uses one of the iMacs and AOL. I 'm on Earthlink.
We have three telephone landlines coming into the house, plus two cellphones.
A little over a year ago, I switched from cable TV to satellite for4 TV sets. Satellite has been totally unsatisfactory, with at the moment only one receiver functioning. Tech services used to be sorta okay, with men handing out advice, but now it's women (not a sexist remark!) operating out of a grass hut somewhere in the South Pacific. (The other day I was advised to unplug all four TV sets at precisely the same instant!)
Sanity is returning. I know that Comcast isn't perfect, but...I'm switching back to cable TV. ditching two phone lines and AOL and Earthlink. Three of the TVs will go to Good Will. I'll keep the biggest and newest one, and then add a little flip down under the counter job for the kitchen, which is where we spend most of our time indoors (except when I'm at a Mac).
I've gotten in touch with a guy who will come in and deal with the tangle of wires in, on, and under my desk.
