Bizarre computer problem

My friggin' 'Enter' key is broken! Both on the number pad and the main keyboard. I reset my computer, and it worked for a minute then stopped again. Our computers at work have a virus scanner that continually is scanning, so I figure it's probably not a virus. Any ideas?!

1. Turn it off.

2. Unplug existing keyboard.

3. Find another keyboard and plug it in.

4. Turn computer back on.

5. Did the problem go away?

TS - I knew you were good for something!

I shut my computer off, and just unplugged my existing keyboard and plugged it back in firmly; so far, so good. Seemed odd that just one key was faulty.

Check it out:that's what NO returns look like. It's broken again. Oddly enough it works fine in the address field in Explorer, but nowhere else. WTF?!?!?!?!? I guess I'll just have to keep all my communication to one paragraph for the rest of my life. That's cool.

Yeah I can and I will (I'm at home right now). I work for a big company and it's a pain in the ass. Gotta call office services, etc etc. This happened Friday afternoon, and I was not willing to put that much effort into it at the time.

Well, since I know everyone out there is waiting with bated breath, here's the conclusion: This morning I requested and got a new keyboard (well, it looks used, but you get the idea). Shut off my computer, unplugged old and plugged in new one. Turned on computer. Same deal: Everything is cool for a while, then the Enter key just stops working. Except it DOES work in the address bar of Explorer (as far as I can tell that's the only place it works). W.T.F?! Again, we've got virus protection here at work, so I'm assuming that's covered.
