Okay...the other day me and the two other captains of my schools jv soccer team were stretching and cooling down. I was just wondering..."hey...how many of you guys lifted over the summer" two kids raised their hands, but I knew that two others did plus myself..thats five kids..we have twenty kids "how many of you guys ran' a bunch of hands go up..." "martin (fat kid who shows no effort)..two practices of running the mile dont count as running...i mean...really running..a couple times a week.." most hands go down now i make a big mistake "Who touched a soccer ball over the summer" everyone's hands go up.... "not during a soccer practice..on your own" no ones hand but mine and one other captains hands stayed up..

I think its ridiculus(sp) that they think just because its soccer you dont need to lift....so now, we do tons of pushups and situps and running at the end of every practice... We would go to the weight room, but the schools retarded... they redid the floor..then the ceiling, which ruined the floor and now have to re-redo the floor...not sure if were going to start school wednesday...

fun fun..

okay..rant over...

but really..soccer players need to lift right...im not just crazy..

You're wise for your years Doug. If you want to excel in any sport you need to hit the weights. I submit THE Tiger Woods.

Soccer is changing and the game (especially American) is becoming more physical. You'll need to have some decent size to stay on your ball. It may not be much, but if you've go an extra 10 solid pounds on you, you'll be able to knock most guys off the ball.

While skill and knowledge are the most important things, being solid is definitley the next biggest thing.
