In three weeks, my team (basketball) will be playing in the Senior Olympics in Austin and I need to come up with a name for us ASAP. We haven't been able to keep in touch very well so far so it's kind of up to me at this point. I know you folks can come up with some snappy suggestions!
Please let 'em fly! I appreciate all suggestions! References to old guys are expected but I don't know what the other team names are so the more obvious might be taken. How about an acronym for, "the older I get, the better I used to play!" That would be tough.
Senior Olympics? WTF Brad? I didn't know you aged to 65 within the last year! Jeez, I don't want to turn 51 if accelerated aging is what happens.
PS: I thought you were thinking of giving up basketball?
PPS: How 'bout Wheezers & Geezers or GGG (Gray Galloping Geezers) or Geritol's Got Game!?
My personal favorite though: Team Viagra: Not Faster, Just Harder
How about ASAP? Has-beens? Full-Court Bypass? Team Is There A Doctor In The House? Got Sprain? Arthritic Hoop Masters? Court Clydesdales? Slow Twitch (okay, only our guys would get that one)? Dirty Old Men? Team Who Needs A Nap? Or just the Napsters? I don't know. Let me ponder on it.
I'd be glad to loan you my 3 on 3 teams name, "Wolverines." Ave age 45. We went 5-0 in the Carlisle Street Hoops Couch Potato Division this summer. Team named for a 50 year old accountant we play with in the winter. No talent whatever, short, skinny but would chew his arm off to get a rebound. He's our role model.

I'm giving it up right after this tournament!
Seriously, I really don't want to play that much anymore but I DID want to participate - it's really more about promoting healthy lifestyles than setting records - and I just saw the basketball aspect as my best shot. I don't get up at 5 am and swim with the Masters group so I wouldn't compete there, I know there's lots of really good, "experienced" racquetball players so that was out (for now) and, like I said in another post, I don't even own a bike so the triathlon was out. It may literally be the last time I play... but it's only 3-on-3 so it's hardly basketball anyway. It'll likely be a 3-point-fest! What will be fun is that this will be the first time I will have ever played with ONLY people my age or older!
By the way, you can compete in the Senior Olympics and join AARP when you reach 50, both of which I will have done by this time next month.
THANKS to everyone for the suggestions... keep 'em coming!
Coming from a Goa'uld though...
LOL, I'm sorry Q. The name is actually from an Album with Jerry Garcia and some other artist (I forget his name). But it was called "Old and in the Way"
